  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams meet in Inglewood, California at 4:25 pm ET on Sunday, Sep. 26th
  • Both teams are undefeated and without a doubt looking to stay that way this week

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, will be the site of this Sunday afternoon’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Los Angeles Rams matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25pm ET on FOX. Beautiful fall weather featuring highs in the mid 70s are expected at kickoff and should remain through the duration of this one.

The Buccaneers were impressive again last week, hanging 48 points on the hapless Atlanta Falcons. The last two touchdowns came via Mike Edwards pick 6s late in the fourth quarter but even without them, the Buccaneers topped 30 points again. The Rams’ offense was just as dangerous as they went on the road and hung 27 points on the Indianapolis Colts in their win. Both defenses will have their hands full in this one.

The Rams opened as 1-point favorites but have been bet all the way to +1.5. There’s not a lot of faith in Los Angeles on the streets as 65% of the early bets have come in on Tampa Bay up to this point. The total has seen a drastic move as well as it site at 55 after opening at 50. As always, there are plenty of player props to consider.

Matthew Stafford Goes Off

When the Los Angeles Rams acquired Matthew Stafford in the offseason, many thought we would see exactly what Sean McVay’s offense could become. Stafford has always had a cannon for an arm and the mindset of a gunslinger. So far in McVay’s offense, that’s a great combination.

We have yet to see the Rams run more than 59 offensive plays in a game but that could change Sunday. Last week they played the slowest paced team in neutral situations in the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts. This week they’ll be playing the second fastest paced team in neutral situations in Tampa. Pace isn’t the only thing that could help Stafford.

The Buccaneers have one of the best run stopping defenses (DVOA) in the NFL. They were number one in the metric last season and so far this year they’re fifth. This and the fact that their offense hangs points, leads to teams elevating their number of pass attempts each game. So far this season, they’ve seen 106 pass attempts while the next closest team has only seen 91.

If the Rams are going to stay competitive in this game, they will likely have to employ the same strategy. Starting running back Darrell Henderson has a rib injury, to make matters worse. I would expect Los Angeles to incorporate short passes as a substitute for the run game and that should lead to Stafford going over his passing yards prop.

Who Scores?

With Matthew Stafford cooking, someone else has to as well. After all, the quarterback can’t throw and catch the ball. We’ll need a wide receiver and one that stands out the most is Cooper Kupp.

It feels crazy to take a player who is -120 to score a touchdown but maybe not so much in this case. The Buccaneers are not likely to allow a touchdown on the ground since they’ve only allowed nine such touchdowns in the last 18 regular season games. The ball will have to find it’s way into the end zone some other way.

So far this season, Tampa has given up four touchdowns to the wide receiver position so that’s where the Rams will likely scheme up Sunday. Cooper Kupp has already caught three on the season and he obviously has a rapport with Stafford. The Rams will need at least three to four touchdowns to win this game so it’s not crazy to think Kupp gets one.
