No game on the Week 12 Sunday slate features a higher total than the Chargers vs Cardinals contest at 48.5. Online sportsbooks are expecting a shootout, but there’s plenty of paths to this game underwhelming.

The most obvious would be Arizona’s inability to punch back. The Cardinals are 2.5-point underdogs, and will get QB Kyler Murray back under center. Murray has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, and we’re looking to fade his legs in the Chargers vs Cardinals player props.

Although not listed, Murray has an over/under rushing yards prop of 30.5, which is 19 yards more than opposing QB Justin Herbert. It’s just 24.5 yards fewer than Austin Ekeler, but it’s safe to wonder how much his banged-up hamstring will affect his rushing ceiling.

LAC vs ARI Prop #1: Kyler Murray Under 30.5 Rushing Yards

Normally Murray’s rushing prop would be higher which should signal alarm bells to bettors that are paying attention. While it’s true he’s exceeded this number in four of nine outings, the majority of those contests took place when he was healthy.

Even when Murray was healthy though, he wasn’t relying on his legs nearly as often as in the past. He’s averaging nearly two rushing attempts less per game than when he was running all over defenses in 2020 (8.3 vs 6.5). The former number one overall pick has had four games with five carries or less, and the matchup isn’t exactly favorable.

Yes, the Chargers struggle versus RB’s, but not rushing quarterbacks. Only three teams have allowed fewer rushing yards to enemy QB’s and that’s with facing Patrick Mahomes twice, as well as Marcus Mariota.

Pick: Kyler Murray Under 30.5 Rushing Yards (-115), 1 unit

LAC vs ARI Prop #2: DeAndre Hopkins Under 84.5 Receiving Yards

DeAndre Hopkins has been a target hog regardless of who’s been under center this season. He’s seen 26 targets in his last two games alone, and double-digit looks in four of five outings since returning from suspension.

DeAndre Hopkins 2022 Stats – Last 5 Games

REC TGT YDS TD
9 12 91 0
10 14 98 0
4 5 36 1
12 13 159 1
10 14 103 0

On paper, the matchup looks favorable as LA ranks 19th in coverage per Pro Football Focus. However, the Chargers are a forward thinking team that will sell out to take away Arizona’s top weapon.

LA has yielded the eighth fewest receiving yards to enemy wideouts and are two games removed from holding star receiver Deebo Samuel to two catches for 24 yards.

Pick: DeAndre Hopkins Under 84.5 Receiving Yards (-115), 1 unit

Chargers vs Cardinals TD Props

Player Odds to Score 1st TD Odds to Score Anytime TD

Isaiah Spiller (LAC) +2000 +350
Justin Herbert (LAC) +2200 +400
Chargers Defense +2800 +500
Cardinals Defense +3000 +550

As far as the anytime touchdown market goes, Austin Ekeler is an overwhelming favorite to score. It doesn’t make much sense laying -200 for him to hit paydirt, but his teammate Josh Palmer’s odd are pretty enticing.

LAC vs ARI Prop #3: Josh Palmer Anytime TD

Arizona boasts the 23rd-ranked pass defense. With Mike Williams out, Palmer is set to see a ton of usage just like in previous games where either Big Mike or Keenan Allen sat.

Palmer is fresh off a 10-target, 2-TD game versus the Chiefs and has seen double-digit looks in three of his past four games. Herbert clearly trusts him, and with Allen still not all the way back to 100%, Palmer should lead the LA receiving corps in opportunity for the second straight week.

Pick: Josh Palmer Anytime TD (+150), 1 unit
