Thursday Night Football kicks off NFL Week 2 with an intriguing NFC battle as the Green Bay Packers (1-0, 1-0 home, 0-1 O/U) host the Washington Commanders (1-0, 0-0 away, 0-1 O/U) at Lambeau Field at 7:15 pm CT/8:15 pm ET.

Both teams are looking to build on impressive Week 1 victories: the Packers dominated reigning NFC North-champion Detroit (27-13), while the Commanders made quick work of the rebuilding New York Giants (21-6). On Thursday, the spotlight will be on the quarterback duel between Green Bay’s Jordan Love, who is coming off a hyper-efficient performance, and Washington’s dynamic sophomore, Jayden Daniels.

WSH Commanders vs GB Packers Weather Forecast

The weather forecast for Thursday night at Lambeau calls for a cool evening with temperatures in the mid-50s and winds of 10-15 mph.

The temperature is mild enough that it shouldn’t have an impact on scoring, but the moderate winds could be a factor in the passing and kicking games.

WSH vs GB Odds Movement

The opening NFL Week 2 odds listed the Packers as three-point favorites, a number that’s been bet up to 3.5, though the -118 juice on Washington to cover suggests it could move back down. On the moneyline, Green Bay saw a modest move from -170 to the current -175 price, while the Commanders went from +142 to +145.

The total opened at 48.5 with -110 odds each way, so there’s only been modest movement on the price, which now sits at O -105/U -115.

NFL player props as of September 10 at DraftKings.

Jordan Love’s passing-yards prop of 229.5 seems low given his efficiency, but Washington’s defense was suffocating in Week 1. The better value might lie in his passing touchdowns (O 1.5 at -118) as the Packers have shown high red-zone efficiency.

Jayden Daniels’ line of 225.5 yards is attainable, but Washington’s run-heavy approach could limit his volume. The under on Daniels’ passing TDs (U 1.5 at -151) is appealing against a tough Packers pass defense at home.

Josh Jacobs’ rushing prop at 78.5 yards is ambitious given his Week 1 struggles on the ground (19 carries for 66 yards, 3.5 YPC)

For Washington, Deebo Samuel’s receiving yards line of 53.5 feels like a strong over candidate given his role and ability to create yards after the catch. Jayden Daniels’ rushing yards prop, set at 45.5, is also compelling; Green Bay’s aggressive pass rush may force him to scramble, and his designed runs are a key part of Washington’s offense.

WSH Commanders vs GB Packers Picks & Prediction

  • Green Bay Packers -3.5 (-102)
  • Under 48.5 (-115)
  • Jayden Daniels Over 45.5 Rushing Yards (-111)

This Thursday night matchup hinges on whether the Commanders’ physical, run-first offense can travel and dictate the tempo against a Green Bay team that’s becoming dominant at home.

The Packers’ defense was suffocating against the run in Week 1, allowing just 2.1 yards per carry, and their pass rush will be a much tougher test than the Commanders’ offensive line faced last Sunday against the Giants.

Jordan Love showed remarkable efficiency against a good Detroit defense in Week 1. Though he didn’t put up gaudy yardage totals, he was clinical in his execution. Washington’s defense is solid, but the Packers’ offensive scheme is designed to create favorable matchups, and Love has proven he can exploit them.

The betting trends strongly favor Green Bay in this spot. The Packers are 4-1 against-the-spread (ATS) in their last five games at Lambeau. They’re also 10-1 straight up in their last 11 games as a favorite and an incredible 9-0 in their last nine when favored by less than a touchdown.

While the Commanders have been strong against the spread in primetime (4-1 ATS in their last five), the Packers’ dominance at home is hard to ignore. The line movement from -3.0 to -3.5 indicates the market agrees.

Look for the Packers’ defense to contain Washington’s ground game enough to force Daniels into third-and-long situations, where their pass rush can take over. I am backing Green Bay to cover the spread at home, along with another under in what’s becoming a telling early-season NFL over under trend.
