The New York Giants have a chance to stay tied for first place in the NFC East on Monday night.
In the lead up to the season, if you were going to say one of the Giants or Cowboys were 2-0 to start the year, you’d think it was Dallas. Instead, it’s New York who have wins over the Titans and Panthers so far.
The Cowboys lost Dak Prescott during a hapless 19-3 loss in Week 1 to the Buccaneers. To their credit, they bounced back in Week 2 with a last-second win over the Bengals.
The two go head-to-head for the 120th time at 8:15 pm on Monday night, on a cool, clear New York evening.

If the Cowboys were at full health, things would be different, but as it stands the Giants are one-point favorites on Monday night. It’s not a massive line, but their two wins have been by a combined four points.

NFL Public Betting isn’t exactly sure where things sit either. There’s only a 10% difference in the action on the spread and outright winner, which are some of the tightest numbers of the week.
Cowboys vs Giants Injury Report
While Prescott’s status isn’t a question, there is some interest in a few key names for Dallas’ offense.
Michael Gallup got in full practices all week, so the assumption is that he’ll play. The same can’t be said for Dalton Schultz who, despite getting in a limited practice, will likely be out.
Although he’s battling an illness, there should be no concerns surrounding Micah Parsons.
Week 3 Injury Report
Cowboys | Injury, Status | Giants | Injury, Status |
---|---|---|---|
Michael Gallup, WR | Knee, Questionable | Justin Layne, DB | Concussion, OUT |
Jayvon Kearse, S | Knee, OUT | Nick McCloud, DB | Hamstring, OUT |
Connor McGovern, G | Ankle, OUT | Aaron Robinson, DB | Appendix, OUT |
Micah Parsons, LB | Illness, Questionable | Wan’Dale Robinson, WR | Knee, OUT |
Dak Prescott, QB | Thumb, OUT | Leonard Williams, DL | Knee, Doubtful |
Dalton Schultz, TE | Knee, Questionable | Azeez Ojulari, OLB | Calf, Questionable |
Quinton Bohana, DT | Neck, Questionable | Kayvon Thibodeaux, OLB | Knee, Questionable |
N/A | N/A | Kadarius Toney, WR | Hamstring, Doubtful |
The Giants will be down Wan’Dale Robinson and (likely) Kadarius Toney. That means the onus will be on Sterling Shepard to make the most of a heavy target share again.
Kayvon Thibodeaux: “Oh yeah, I’m playing!”
Asked the fifth overall pick if there was any doubt. Nope. He’s likely set to make his debut Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys. #giants #cowboys

New York’s banged up secondary still has starting corner Adoree’ Jackson and backups Cor’Dale Flott, Darnay Holmes and Fabian Moreau, but the Cowboys’ receivers will have the chance to win some battles.
Daniel Jones Looks to Continue Strong Start
This is a pivotal year for Daniel Jones.
Entering his fourth year with the Giants, Jones has never led the team to a .500 or better record. But this year he’s won his first two starts.
He finished Week 1 with an 80% completion percentage, and a pair of TDs. The next week he dipped to 64% and 176 yards and one TD pass. New York’s total offensive output dipped too, dropping from 394 total yards to 265.

The Dallas defense will pose an interesting challenge.
In Week 1, with their offense producing just three points, they gave up 197 yards through the air and 152 on the ground. The next week against a vaunted Bengals’ air attack, they gave up just 165 passing yards and 89 on the ground.

For his career, Jones is just 1-2 in starts against Dallas, managing three passing TDs and two interceptions. He’s averaged 220 yards in those three starts.
Cowboys vs Giants Pick
A victory would be a big statement for the Giants. It would position them well with the Eagles atop the NFC East, even if it’s early.
But a victory for the Cowboys would go a long way for Cooper Rush and his chances of keeping Dallas afloat.
Missing Schultz hurts, but getting Michael Gallup back is a big help. And while the Giants have the better running back in Saquon Barkley, Zeke Elliott and Tony Pollard should be able to help move the chains for Dallas.
It may not be pretty, but the Cowboys pull it out on Monday.
The Pick: Dallas Cowboys (-104); 1 unit
