The New York Jets look to win consecutive primetime games for the first time in over five years when they host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. The Jets recorded a 22-16 overtime win over Buffalo on Monday Night Football in Week 1 but followed up with dismal performances in subsequent losses to Dallas and New England. Read on for an analysis of Chiefs vs Jets.

The Chiefs posted a crushing 41-10 win over Chicago last weekend. However, KC will be looking to atone for a stunning 21-20 loss to Detroit in the season premiere of Thursday Night Football, snapping a nine-game SU win streak in primetime.

Chiefs vs Jets Recent History

Sunday night’s matchup marks the first meeting between these teams since 2020, and the Chiefs’ first trip to New York since 2018. It also marks the first-ever date between these AFC rivals in primetime. The Chiefs have topped the Jets in three of their past four clashes, capped by a decisive 35-9 home win three years ago.

However, the Jets have topped Kansas City in three straight meetings in New York, limiting the Chiefs to fewer than 15 points per game in those contests. With the Jets scoring 10 or fewer points in each of their three recent losses to the Chiefs, the UNDER has gone 3-1 over that stretch.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Outlook

After struggling at times to generate offense during a middling 1-1 SU start, last week’s home date with the Bears proved to be a tonic for the Chiefs. KC recorded just 37 total points through the first two weeks of the season but almost matched that total while storming to a 34-0 lead over Chicago by halftime.

Not surprisingly, Patrick Mahomes turned in his strongest performance of the season so far, tossing for 272 yards and three touchdowns, and avoided throwing any costly picks. Mahomes made full use of his receiving corps, completing passes to 10 different receivers, with Travis Kelce putting on a show for his new squeeze Taylor Swift with a game-high 69 receiving yards and one score.

Rusher Isaiah Pacheco continued to produce while leading the team for a second straight week with 62 rushing yards and is now pegged as a -110 bet to top 54.5 rushing yards on the SNF player props.

New York Jets Betting Outlook

Things went from bad to worse for the Jets in last weekend’s home date with New England. After turning in a character win in the wake of losing Aaron Rodgers to a season-ending injury on opening night, the Jets have scored just 20 total points in the past two games while averaging just 193 total yards in two losses since.

As expected, Zach Wilson has not come remotely close to filling the void left by the loss of Rodgers. Wilson has completed just one scoring pass against three picks while completing just 47.6% of his pass attempts over the past two games and led the Jets to just 12 first downs in each of those contests.

Breece Hall continues to be hampered by injuries and has compiled just 27 total rushing yards over the past two games, while prized offseason acquisition Dalvin Cook has failed to have an impact while racking up just 58 total yards and no scores through three games.

Chiefs vs Jets Prediction

The defense was supposed to be the savior for the Jets this season but particularly struggled versus the New England ground game last week. The Chiefs sport a lengthy injury report this week but should be healthy enough to extend the Jets’ miseries with another big offensive performance.

The Pick: Chiefs -9 (-110); UNDER 41.5 (-110)
