  • Kyler Murray will perform at the Oklahoma Pro Day on Wednesday, March 13th
  • Murray won the 2018 Heisman Trophy
  • He ran for over 1,000 yards and 12 TDs last year for the Sooners

The most important Pro Day of the year is Wednesday in Norman, Oklahoma. Kyler Murray will finally have the chance to showcase his skills for NFL scouts and prove he’s deserving of not only a 1st round pick but the 1st overall pick. Every drill Murray goes through will be appointment viewing, but his running of the 40-yard dash is sure to get some extra attention.

Kyler Murray 40-Yard Dash Odds

What Will Kyler Murray’s 40 Yard Dash Time Be at His Pro Day? Odds
Over 4.4 seconds -120
Under 4.4 seconds -120

*Odds taken on 03/12/19

As an undersized QB it’s Murray’s ability to use his legs that makes him special. For the Oklahoma Sooners last year he ran for 1,001 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 7.2 yards per carry not only because of a strong offensive line, but because his burst is something special. Here’s the case for why betting under is the value play with this prop.

Michael Vick 2.0?

The comparisons to Michael Vick are fair. Murray and Vick both heard questions about their size, had great arms, and an even better set of legs. At his Pro Day back in 2001, Vick ran the 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds, and that’s something Murray could easily duplicate. Murray is actually slightly smaller than Vick, and could use that to his advantage, especially during the running of this drill.

While Vick was officially clocked at 4.33, reports indicated he’d run as fast as 4.25, which would be the fastest time ever recorded by a quarterback. It’s definitely a lofty goal to try and equal the fastest QB of all-time, but that’s where Murray belongs in the discussion.

A good day from Murray will challenge those times, and even if he doesn’t perform his best, there’s still enough cushion that 4.39 is well within reach.

Comfortable Setting Should Yield Positive Results

There’s a reason Murray decided not to run at the combine. He knew he accomplish just as much or more at the Oklahoma Pro Day. He’s in a comfortable setting at a venue he has been at numerous times. He won’t be scheduled to run at a specific time, it will go on his watch, when he’s ready to perform. Murray can choose exactly when he feels ready to roll, and then impress. That takes away a lot of potential anxiety, and lessens the chance of having a bad day.

Kyler Murray is a flat-out incredible athlete. You don’t win a Heisman Trophy and get drafted by the Oakland Athletics without possessing otherworldly ability. He’s going to showcase the skills needed to convince the Arizona Cardinals he’s worthy of the top pick and that starts with a great performance in the 40-yard dash.

Pick: Under 4.4 (-120)
