The Kansas City Chiefs are struggling, the Houston Texans are down and Russell Wilson is out. And each of those circumstances are making an impact on the Week 6 NFL line movement.
Five weeks into the NFL season, trends are becoming evident. In both the AFC East and AFC South, there’s only one team that’s holding a winning record. Those two teams — the 4-1 Buffalo Bills and 3-2 Tennessee Titans — will clash on Monday Night Football.
The 1-4 Texans, losers of four straight, luckily play in the AFC South, where they managed to open the season with a win over the 0-5 Jacksonville Jaguars.
The defending champion Chiefs are off to a 2-3 start but based on the Week 6 betting lines, NFL bettors still believe in KC finding a way to add it up. The same can’t be said for the 2-3 Seattle Seahawks. Losers of two of their last three games, Seattle will also be without QB Wilson for anywhere from 4-8 weeks following finger surgery this week.
Which games are looking to be the biggest movers and shakers in NFL Week 6 line movement?
Let’s look at that. First, though, check out the latest NFL odds for Week 6.

Rus-selling On Seahawks Futures
Exactly how long Wilson will be out of commission for the Seahawks is a topic of debate. Returning to practice this week after undergoing surgery, Wilson is hoping he can be back in action within a month. Seahawks team doctors are projecting that his absence will be more in the 6-8 week range.

Regardless, he won’t be active this week, and that’s impacting the spread on Seattle’s Sunday game at Pittsburgh against the Steelers. The line opened at Pittsburgh -3.5 and has climbed all the way to Steelers -5.5. That’s the largest spread movement of any NFL game during Week 6.
Last week, the Steelers improved to 2-3, knocking off the Denver Broncos at Heinz Field.
Brown(s) Out For Cardinals’ Offense?
The Arizona Cardinals maintained their status as the NFL’s only unbeaten team. However, in improving to 5-0, the Cards only managed a 17-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers. It was the first game all season that Arizona was held under 30 points.

Oddsmakers evidently believe that Cleveland’s #6 NFL defense will be able to contain Kyler Murray and company on Sunday at home. The total on this game opened at 53.5 points. It’s since shrunk to 49 points.
That’s the largest total move of Week 6.
Little Bits Of Spread
A pair of games share the honor as being assigned the smallest point spread of Week 6. One got there by shrinking. The other arrived at this place by growing.
The Baltimore Ravens opened as a 3.5-point pick at home over the Los Angeles Chargers. Since that time, the line on this showdown between elite QBs Lamar Jackson of the Ravens and Justin Herbert has shortened to Baltimore -2.5.
WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SAM DARNOLD THROWING THREE PICKS!??? https://t.co/GBAq4Ykh2Z

The Carolina Panthers have dropped two in a row after opening 3-0. Last week, Panthers QB Sam Darnold resembled the erratic fellow who used to QB the New York Jets.
Bettors took notice. This line opened at Vikings -1. It’s now Minnesota -2.5.
Everything’s Bigger With Texans
For the second time in three weeks, the Texans find themselves as double-digit underdogs. In Week 4, the Bills covered as the 10.5-point pick over Houston.

This week, it’s the 1-4 Indianapolis Colts who are being given 10 points over the 1-4 Texans and rookie QB Davis Mills. Odd to see an NFL game involving Carson Wentz in which a team’s starting QB is hurt, and it isn’t him.
Tiny Total Time
The Seahawks were only the NFL’s #14 scoring offense with Wilson at the helm. They were scoring 24 points per game. Clearly, oddsmakers are envisioning a significant downturn with Geno Smith running the Seattle offense.

Pittsburgh is the NFL’s #27 scoring offense at 18.8 points per game. Add those two factors together and you get the smallest total of Week 6 at 42.5 points.
It’s Still Adding Up For Kansas City
Super Bowl champions two seasons ago, Super Bowl losers last season, something’s not working right for the Chiefs. KC is 2-3 and in last place in the AFC West.
The wins might not be arriving with regularity but the points are still piling up for the KC offense. The Chiefs are the NFL’s #5 scoring offense, posting 30.8 points per game.
How bad is the Chiefs defense?
On a per-play basis, the most prolific offense in NFL history is the 2000 Rams. They averaged 7.0.
The 2021 Chiefs are allowing 7.1 yards per play.

They’ve gone over in four of five games this season. KC’s game with the Washington Football Team is carrying the largest total of Week 6 at 55 points. The average total for the six Chiefs games this season is 54.8 points.
Washington (31.0) and KC (32.6) are the #31 and #32 scoring defenses in the NFL.
