The opening prices below use the Week 8 odds supplied for this update. Current spreads and totals are retained from the article’s existing market snapshot, which you confirmed is accurate. Comparing those figures changes the story substantially: the largest listed spread move is 2.5 points, while three totals have moved by at least three points.

Opening moneylines and prices are included where provided. The current snapshot does not include moneylines, so this breakdown focuses on spread and total movement rather than inferring moneyline changes or betting-split trends.

Biggest Spread Changes

The Jaguars have the largest listed move, going from -7.5 at the supplied opener to -10 in the current snapshot. That is a 2.5-point adjustment toward Jacksonville, not the 5.5-point move implied by the previous opening figure.

The line movement is likely based on the Colts trading away DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson. Additionally, bettors are hammering the Jaguars up to the double-digit line, just shy of Cincinnati’s 11.5 as the biggest line of the week.

Washington also moved 2.5 points, from -3.5 to -6. The Eagles were the opening underdog in the supplied odds, so this is not a favorite flip. Cincinnati’s spread increased by one point, from -10.5 to -11.5, while the market moved one point toward Cleveland in the Steelers matchup, from Pittsburgh -4.5 to -3.5.

Several lines changed by a point or less. Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Cincinnati each gained a point against their supplied opening spread. Dallas moved from -6.5 to -7, while the Rams went from -7 to -6.5, a half-point move toward the Chargers. Buffalo, Kansas City, and Seattle are unchanged at the listed spread.

Biggest Game-Total Adjustments

The Raiders-Jets and Cardinals-Cowboys totals have each risen three points, the largest increases in the current comparison. Las Vegas-New York moved from 42.5 to 45.5, while Arizona-Dallas climbed from 51.5 to 54.5. The Ravens-Bills total is up two points, from 52.5 to 54.5, likely spurred by the return of Lamar Jackson to full practice participation.

The largest decrease is in Chiefs-Broncos, where the total fell two points from 42.5 to 40.5. Colts-Jaguars is down one point, and Chargers-Rams has ticked down half a point. The remaining listed totals are unchanged or up one point.

These comparisons describe the difference between the supplied opening odds and the current lines in the existing snapshot. This is often referred to as closing line value. For example, if you bet on the Chiefs-Broncos under at 42.5, your bet is more likely to hit than someone who bet on the under at 40.5. Under bettors at the start of the week would have the positive side of closing line value.
