Odds on Which Division Will Win Super Bowl 54: NFC West Listed as Slight Favorite

Which of the eight NFL divisions has the best chance to produce the Super Bowl 54 champion? According to oddsmakers, it’s the NFC West, which is spearheaded by the Los Angeles Rams.

Is the NFC West a Good Bet?
After posting the best record in football (13-3) and dominating the league offensively, the Rams fell just short of winning the title last year, losing to the New England Patriots at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
It comes as no surprise that the Rams are once again among the favorites to not only return to the Super Bowl but win a championship in 2019-20. The Rams are at +950, on average, in the Super Bowl 54 futures.
The West is rounded out by the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and rebuilding Arizona Cardinals.
Oddsmakers aren’t giving the Seahawks much of a chance, setting the odds on the 2014 champions at +3300. That’s actually behind the 49ers (+3100), who are coming off a 4-12 year, mostly without starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
Given that the Seahawks and Niners don’t represent legitimate Super Bowl threats, and the Cardinals are in year-one with a rookie QB (Kyler Murray) and head coach (Kliff Kingsbury), betting the Rams straight up at around +950 is better value than betting on an NFC West team to win it all.
AFC East, NFC South Worth Considering
Next in the odds come the AFC East and NFC South, both at +550.
The AFC East is obviously headlined by the defending champion New England Patriots, who face a flurry of questions heading into the 2019-20 season but remain the outright Super Bowl 54 favorites. Tom Brady is a year older and will be without longtime safety valve Rob Gronkowski, who decided to retire.
The situation in the AFC East is akin to the NFC West. There’s one team with a real shot, so if you want to bet on the Pats, bet on them individually. Don’t bother adopting the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins, three teams destined to be fighting for a .500 record at best.
Looking at the NFC South, can the New Orleans Saints return to the same form which saw the franchise win the division with a 13-3 record? Much like the situation with Brady, the Saints face the same potential issues with Drew Brees, who will be 41 when the playoffs begin.
However, putting money down on the NFC South Division at +550 gives bettors a little more security as the Carolina Panthers should be playoff-bound next season.
High Expectations on Chiefs
The AFC West comes in at +600 partly because of high expectations for the Kansas City Chiefs, who enter the upcoming season at +820, on average, to win the Super Bowl.
Which line provides better value, the AFC West as a group at +600 or the Chiefs on their own at +820? ‘
Unless you believe the Los Angeles Chargers can exceed expectations for a second straight season or the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders will return to playoff form, placing money directly on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs could greater returns.
