In the NFL odds, the Atlanta Falcons finally fell from the ranks of the against-the-spread unbeaten in last week’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. In Week 8, for the first time in the NFL season, the Falcons are favorites in a game. Atlanta is a 4-point pick over the visiting Carolina Panthers.

In Week 8 against the spread picks, road teams are underdogs in eight of 15 games. Four games are showing totals that are under 41 points.

Week 8 Biggest Line Movement

The Week 8 NFL schedule is being highlighted by plenty of line movement across the board. Both the Denver Broncos vs Jacksonville Jaguars and Arizona Cardinals vs Minnesota Vikings were witnessing a 2-point swing in the betting lines on those games.

However, the title for the NFL Week 8 biggest line movement goes to the Falcons-Panthers game. Atlanta currently is sitting as the 4-point chalk over Carolina. Atlanta opened as the 6.5-point chalk. Still, it’s the first time in 10 games that the Falcons are a favorite.

Last December 26, Atlanta kicked off a 7.5-point pick over Detroit. The Falcons won, but Detroit covered in a 20-16 loss. A week ago, the Panthers were 13-point underdogs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won outright 21-3.

In the NFL public betting trends. bettors are backing the Falcons in the spread handle at a rate of 73%.

Biggest Total Movement In Week 8 NFL Lines

There’s also been lots of Week 8 line movement showing up in the totals at NFL betting sites. The Cardinal-Vikings, New York Giants vs Seattle Seahawks and Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns all saw 2-point swings in their over/under lines.

The biggest Week 8 total move, though, was fashioned by the Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints. Opening at 46.5 points, this game is now listing a total of 49.5 points.

The Raiders have gone over the total in four successive games. New Orleans and Arizona combined for 76 points in the Week 8 TNF game.

Despite Success, Oddsmakers Are Shorting 49ers Garoppolo

Garoppolo led the 49ers to a 24-9 victory over the Rams in Week 4 as a 2-point home favorite. Despite his perfect slate against the reigning Super Bowl champs, the 49ers QB is getting just 1.5 points as the chalk this week in LA.

The Raiders and Saints are showing the same spread, with visiting Las Vegas holding forth as the chalk. These two games are offering the shortest spreads in the Week 8 line movement.

Packers Facing Long Odds at Buffalo

Two weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers came to Buffalo a 14-point underdog and were whipped 38-3. In Week 2, the Tennessee Titans arrived to face the Bills as 10-point dogs. They lost 41-17.

Now it’s Green Bay’s turn, as Rodgers and company seek to halt the bleeding of a three-game losing streak. And for the first time in his career, the four-time MVP will be taking the field as a 10+ point underdog. As 10.5-point underdogs, the Packers are facing the longest spread of any Week 8 game.

Green Bay Packers are 10.5-point underdogs at Buffalo in Week 8, and as @BFawkes22 points out, Aaron Rodgers never has been a double-digit underdog during his NFL career.

Oddly enough, it’s a mark they share with the Steelers. As 10.5-point underdogs at the unbeaten (6-0) Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh is a double-digit underdog for the second time in four weeks.

Two Games Sharing Lowest Total of Week 8

The Denver Broncos are the NFL’s lowest-scoring offense. They’re putting 14.3 points per game on the board. They get the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8. Jacksonville is #16 in scoring (22.1 PPG) but have scored 17 or less in two of the past three games.

Elsewhere, the #30 scoring offense is facing #26, with backup QBs likely to start for both teams. The Indianapolis Colts (16.1 PPG) are playing host to the Washington Commanders (17.9 PPG).

At 39.5 points, these two games are sharing the lowest total for NFL Week 8 action.

Can Lions Contribute to Highest Total?

A couple of weeks ago, the Detroit Lions were sitting as the NFL’s most explosive offense. The past two games, they’ve managed to account for a pair of field goals.

The Detroit Lions currently rank 31st in the NFL on rush defense, giving up 162.8 YPG.

Yet this team with six points on the board in the last two games is sitting with the highest Week 8 total as they play host to the Miami Dolphins – 51.5 points.

As the #19 scoring offense (21.0 PPG), Miami isn’t exactly lighting up the scoreboard. Then again, the Lions’ defense, allowing an NFL-high 32.3 PPG, has a way of making every offense look dangerous.
