NFL Week 8 Predictions

Broncos vs Jaguars Early Odds & Prediction

As evidenced by over/under of 40, the matchup between the Broncos and Jaguars at 9:30 a.m. ET Sunday at Wembley Stadium doesn’t shape up to be a barnburner. However, the opening number on this game seems high with Jacksonville favored by 4.5 points.

While the Jaguars have shown improvement in Doug Pederson’s first year as coach, they are just 2-5. That matches the record of the disappointing Broncos and seemingly overmatched rookie coach Nathaniel Hackett.

Hevertheless, the line should be a little closer.

The Jaguars’ losing streak reached four games Sunday as they fell to the New York Giants 23-17 at home. Jacksonville’s Christian Kirk was tackled inside the Giants’ 1-yard line as time expired as New York held on.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was 22-of-43 passing for 310 yards.

Playing without injured QB Russell Wilson, the Broncos also lost their fourth straight game, 16-9 to the visiting New York Jets. Brett Rypien made his second career start and completed 24 of 46 passes for 225 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

Regardless of whether Wilson plays or not, the Broncos’ defense is good and should be able to keep the game close.

Pick: Broncos +4.5 (-114)

Ravens vs Buccaneers Early Odds & Prediction

Both teams who fancied themselves as Super Bowl contenders at the beginning of the season but have struggled at times meet at 8:15 p.m. ET Thursday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The Buccaneers (3-4) have opened as a 1.5-point favorite over the Ravens (4-3).

The Ravens got by the Cleveland Browns 23-20 on Sunday at home. Gus Edwards sparked Baltimore by scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 66 yards in his return from major knee surgery that forced him to miss last season and the first six games of 2022.

The Ravens won even though Lamar Jackson was limited to 120 yards passing while being sacked three times.

The Buccaneers and Tom Brady took a bad loss, getting stunned 21-3 by the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte as 13.5-point favorites.

Brady passed for 290 yards while completing 32 of 49 attempts. However, a sign of what kind of day it was going to be for the Buccaneers when Mike Evans dropped what would have been a 64-yard touchdown pass on the third play of the game.

The Buccaneers look like a team in serious trouble and the wrong team is favored here.

Pick: Ravens +1.5 (-106)

Packers vs Bills Early Odds & Prediction

The Green Bay Packers and descending quarterback Aaron Rodgers visit the Buffalo Bills and ascending QB Josh Allen at 8:20 p.m. ET Sunday at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. The Bills (5-1) are 10-point picks over the skidding Packers (3-4).

The Bills had their bye this weekend after winning three games in a row. Buffalo beat the Kansas City Chiefs 24-20 on Oct. 16 on the road in its last outing.

The Packers’ losing streak reached three games Sunday with a 23-21 road loss to the Washington Commanders. Hampered by a sore thumb, Rodgers was 23 of 35 for 194 yards.

The Packers failed to convert any of their six third downs. They were also held to 232 total yards.

The double-digit spread seems high at first glance, but these are two teams trending in a different direction. Look for the Bills to cover.

Pick: Bills -10 (-110)
