  • A year after the champion Philadelphia Eagles skipped a White House visit, odds suggest the winner will go this time
  • Odds currently have the winner visiting at greater than -200
  • Is there any chance the Super Bowl 53 winner passes on Donald Trump’s invite?

Super Bowl betting doesn’t end with the final whistle.

From what the Gatorade shower will look like, to who will be named Super Bowl MVP, to who that person will thank first, there’s action to be settled for hours after the game.

But if you’re looking for a bet that won’t settle until long after the confetti has been swept up, give this one a look.

Today we explore whether the winning team will go to DC and get a photo-op with Donald Trump (or whoever holds the title of President this summer).

Odds the Super Bowl Winner Visits the White House

Will The Super Bowl Winning Team Visit the White House?  Odds
Yes -260
No +175

In years past, this wouldn’t even be offered as a prop.

Since it became commonplace in the late 80s, only five teams missed their White House invitation. Three canceled invites were a result of the President dealing with war or some sort of national tragedy, and the 1998 Broncos never got an invitation from Bill Clinton (he was a little preoccupied with something else).

Last year’s Eagles were the first team to actually turn their nose up at the invitation.

Turns out a lot of the Eagles players, (keep in mind Philly is one of the NFL’s most socially conscious teams) didn’t really see eye to eye with ol’ Trumpy.

So what are the chances one of this year’s participants puts their foot in the ground and says no? Let’s examine.

Will the Pats No Show?

I don’t even know why I have this section.

What an enormous waste of space and characters.

Moving on.

What About That Other Team?

The NFC champion New Orleans Sa… oops! My bad. I keep making that mistake for some reason.

The Los Angeles Rams could also win the Super Bowl and how would they react to an invite? That’s a little harder to pinpoint.

Rams owner Stan Kroenke gave $1 million to Trump’s inauguration campaign (a million for every championship Kroenke’s myriad of sports franchises have won). But he also put out some generic-ass statement in response to Trump’s complaints about player protesting.

So maybe they aren’t on great terms?

Either way, it will be on a large number of Rams players and coaches to call for the team not to go and it’s very hard to get a read on where they all stand.

Considering the Rams franchise has never been to the White House (they were one of the teams that got preempted by other presidential duties), I could see enough of them just saying “yeah.”

How the No Could Cash

There’s no guarantee the government shutdown will have ended by the summer.

Knowing what kind of meal awaits when the kitchen is closed, I could see both teams passing on that.

Otherwise, the Yes feels like a good bet.
