  • Odell Beckham Jr may be wearing out his welcome in New York
  • Could the Giants trade the star WR?
  • Which teams would be interested in acquiring the 25-year-old?

In four seasons with the New York Giants, Odell Beckham Jr has recorded 313 receptions for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns. The LSU product was the fastest player to ever reach 100, 150, 200, and 250 career receptions, and also the fastest to reach 3,000, 3,500, and 4,000 receiving yards. Beckham also became the first player in NFL history to surpass 80 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons in the league.

But in those same four seasons, Beckham has also become quite emotional on the sidelines on multiple occasions, nearly brawled Josh Norman on the field, punched through a wall at the Giants’ facility, enjoyed a boat party days before being blown out in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, co-starred in a video that went viral featuring an Instagram model, a pizza, and what looked like cocaine, and most recently has reported he won’t step on the field this season without a new contract.

Can you really blame the 25-year-old for feeling he deserves more? As one of the best players in the game over the last four years, Beckham has made just over $10 million and his fifth-year option that the Giants picked up is set to pay him less than $8.5 million in 2018. For perspective, fellow 2014 draftee Mike Evans, who averages 19 fewer receiving yards per game and has caught six fewer touchdowns (in 14 more games), is set to make more than $18 million next season.

Even Tavon Austin, who has never surpassed 907 yards from scrimmage in a season, made nearly $15 million last year.

Beckham’s plea for a new deal may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back, though. The Giants have reportedly already received calls from other teams about the possibility of trading for the talented WR. And even though the team continues to assure the media they are not shopping him, they have asked for two first-round picks in return.

What should really concern Giants fans is who their new GM is: Dave Gettleman. This is the man who rescinded the franchise tag designation on Josh Norman in Carolina, allowing him to just walk in free agency. This is a man who has made it clear that he will not allow a player to become bigger than the team and is not afraid to make bold moves.

While it’s extremely unlikely Gettleman releases Beckham, trading him doesn’t sound out of the question. Will OBJ get traded this offseason? If so, who would be willing to meet the Giants’ steep asking price?

Odds Odell Beckham Jr plays for the Giants in 2019: 1/1

Odds Odell Beckham Jr is traded to ___ this offseason

Team Odds
Los Angeles Rams 11/1
San Francisco 49ers 15/1
Baltimore Ravens 32/1
Indianapolis Colts 32/1
Carolina Panthers 49/1
Cleveland Browns 49/1
Dallas Cowboys 99/1
FIELD 21/1

Los Angeles Rams

The acquisitions of Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, and Ndamukong Suh made it very clear that the Rams are not scared of taking on big personalities in the locker room. They only care about compiling the best talent possible, and they’ve done a damn good job of it.

Trading for Odell Beckham Jr would give Sean McVay an elite talent at WR, in an offense that led the league in scoring last season.

San Francisco 49ers

First up on 49ers GM John Lynch’s to-do list: find a franchise QB. Check.

Next up: surround that QB with talent and keep him happy.

Trading for OBJ would certainly check off the latter.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens were desperate for help at the wide receiver position and they missed on all the big talent in free agency. Bringing in OBJ would make the fans forget all about their FA whiffs – unless they also own Beckham in fantasy.

Indianapolis Colts

Why build a line to protect Andrew Luck? Just keep surrounding him with talent at the wide receiver position … (smh)

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers shipped Kelvin Benjamin to Buffalo ahead of the trade deadline last season, and Devin Funchess was wildly inconsistent as their top option throughout the second half of the season. Cam Newton needs a WR he can rely on.

Cleveland Browns

As much as Jarvis Landry would like this to happen, the Browns have so many other holes on their roster that are much more pressing. Giving up one of the first or fourth-overall picks in the 2018 NFL Draft for Beckham seems extremely unlikely.

Dallas Cowboys

It has been reported the Cowboys might release Dez Bryant and his $16.5 million cap hit, freeing up $8.5 million in cap space. Replacing Bryant with Beckham would be seen as an upgrade in most eyes, but it’s highly unlikely the Giants will trade a player of OBJ’s level within their division.
