NBC is taking us to Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California for Week 3’s SNF game between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers. The kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 pm ET. Absolutely beautiful weather is expected as temperatures are expected to be in the low 60s with a slight 9 mph wind and no precipitation.

The Green Bay Packers silenced a lot of doubters by beating the Detroit Lions 35-17 in Week 2. Aaron Rodgers looked like his normal self again throwing for four touchdowns on the night. Meanwhile, the 49ers answered the bell in Philadelphia last Sunday beating the Eagles 17-11.

The line movement on this one has been interesting as the 49ers opened as 2.5-point favorites and have since moved to -3. What’s interesting is the fact that the Packers have taken in 86% of the bets so far. At one point San Francisco went all the way up to -3.5 even with the disparity.

The total has been just as wild being that the number opened at 45.5 only to swell to 50.5 at the time of writing. The wild part is the majority of the bets and money have come in on the under. As always, there are plenty of player props to consider.

Aaron Jones is Crazy Good

When looking for player props, you want to look for ways to see how a specific player is being used and then see if the market has caught up. A good place to start is with a running back in the passing game.

A lot of times things change from year to year and this type of role goes unnoticed by the books. Aaron Jones is undervalued in this market this week.

So far this season, Jones has been targeted eight times and has caught all eight of them. Jones has always been involved in the passing game but with sidekick Jamaal Williams gone, he may see an uptick in usage in that area. Only seven teams in the NFL threw more balls to their running backs than Green Bay last season so those targets will need to go somewhere.

The Packers are underdogs in this game so the oddsmakers are expecting them to chase points. If they are, Aaron Jones could see a little more work in the passing game than normal. So far this season, only one team in the NFL has given up more receiving yards to running backs than San Francisco. If the Packers are chasing points, Jones is likely to go over 26.5 receiving yards.

  • The Pick: Aaron Jones Over 26.5 Receiving Yards (-115) – Wager 1.15 units to win 1 unit
  • 2021 NFL Player Props Record: 4-2, +1.90 Units

Who Scores?

There is something that has to happen every SNF and that is throwing a touchdown scorer bet out there. It’s just something that has to be done or the card doesn’t feel complete. Sunday night we will see a familiar face as our guy just cashed a touchdown scorer ticket on Monday night.

We have to go with a Packers’ player since literally anyone could score for the 49ers and the value on every one of their players listed is horrible. For instance, Trey Sermon has carried the ball once in his career but is only +140. Brandon Aiyuk has only been targeted twice in two games but his number is +190. That’s not to say neither of those guys can score but we should be getting way better numbers.

How about +210 on a guy like Robert Tonyan who burst on the scene last season catching 11 touchdowns on just 52 receptions. He was second on the team in red-zone targets and targets inside the 10-yard line. Needless to say, Rodgers trusts him and looks for him with high-leverage targets just like in last week’s game against the Lions. The 49ers gave up a touchdown to TJ Hockenson in Week 1 and could very well give one up to Tonyan Sunday night.

  • Pick: Robert Tonyan – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+210): Wager .1 unit to win 0.21 units
  • 2021 Touchdown Scorer prop record: 1-5, -0.36 units
