After an offseason saga that could have seen the exit of Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers know their window to win is now.

Fresh off the Drew Brees era, the New Orleans Saints don’t know yet what they have.

It makes for an interesting matchup in Week 1, Sunday at 4:25pm ET at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.

The game was originally supposed to be played in New Orleans but had to be relocated due to Hurricane Ida.

The Packers are currently 3.5-point favorites in this one, on the strength of their 13-3 year and trip to the NFC Championship. It’s also because we’re not sure yet what to make of Jameis Winston, and how head coach Sean Payton will be able to utilize his new pivot on a roster that’s pretty strong across most levels.

We’ve got you covered with a game preview and pick, but for now, let’s dig into some player prop wagers, and get you on the plus side right off the bat.

Rodgers Will Roll

It’s hard to believe Aaron Rodgers has plus-odds of throwing more than 2.5 touchdowns.

In his MVP campaign a season ago, he posted 12 games of three-or-more touchdown passes.

In fact, one of those games was against these same Saints. Rodgers went 21-for-32 for 283 yards with three touchdown strikes in a 37-30 win.

The Saints defense is coming off a solid 2020. They were fifth in both passing yards allowed and yards allowed per attempt (6.7), but I don’t see Rodgers getting slowed down.

He’s coming into a year where he’s trying to stick it to his own management, by going HAM on the field. The rest of the NFL thanks Brian Gutekunst.

  • The Pick: Rodgers OVER 2.5 TD passes (1 unit to win 1 unit )

Tony Takes Advantage

Latavius Murray is a legit running back in the NFL, and it’s no wonder he was scooped up so quickly when the Saints released him.

But the Saints think they’ve got a good on in second-year man Tony Jones Jr, who had himself a camp, and asserted himself as the backup behind Alvin Kamara.

He led the team with 106 rushing yards in two preseason games, adding one touchdown and six catches for 42 yards.

Kamara is definitely the lead back, but even the Saints know there’s a sweet spot of touches per game for their star, so as to not wear down.

Jones Jr should be able to be a release valve for Jameis Winston on passing downs to avoid a respectable Packers’ pass rush. He’s also shown an ability to run between the tackles, and showed some burst to get outside.

  • The Pick: Jones Jr OVER 29.5 rush + rec yards (1 unit to win 0.83 units )

Who Scores?

Let’s not overthink this one. The usual suspects are your best bets here. You could go with Aaron Jones to find paydirt (-120), as he’ scored at least one TD in each of the Pack’s last six September games. Kamara (-150) has been living in the endzone, currently on a 4-game streak of TD scores.

But let’s dig a little further for some value. Packers’ tight end Robert Tonyan has +150 odds to score, and he’s done that seven times in Green Bay’s last nine games. Interested in big-game fishing? Davante Adams has scored the first TD in seven of the last 12 games where the Pack have been favorites. It’s opening week, why not take a stab?

  • The Pick: Adams to score 1st TD (1 unit to win 5.5 units )
