After just two games as a NFL head coach, Jeff Saturday takes over prime time on Monday night.

Saturday’s Colts (4-6-1) get set to host the Steelers (3-7) on Monday Night Football to close out Week 12. Through two games, Indy is 1-1 with Saturday at the helm. And that one loss was a surprisingly tight one against the Eagles.

The Colts were two minutes away from moving to 2-0.

Pittsburgh has lost three of their last four, but since their bye week they’re 1-1. That win over the Saints was a feel-good moment, and they gave the Bengals all they could handle in Week 11.

Kickoff is set for 8:15 pm ET from Indy on ESPN.

Team Moneyline Spread Total
Pittsburgh Steelers +118 +2.5 (-110) Ov 39.0 (-110)

It’s not surprising to see the Colts open as home favorites. It can be tough to pick a favorite between two teams with records below .500, so home field swings things in their favor. It’ll be difficult to navigate a low total as well, as both teams have questions on offense.

The NFL Public Betting trends are equally split when it comes to the Monday Nighter. The Colts are seeing 60% on both bets and money when it comes to covering that 2.5. The total is seeing more bets on the over but more money on the under, and outright the Colts are seeing more wagers, but the Steelers are seeing the cash.

Steelers vs Colts Injury Report

The Colts are dealing with a number of injuries on the defensive side of the ball. There’s an illness that’s been sweeping through the locker room too.

DeForest Buckner missed two practices with a rib injury and the illness. Out on the edge, both Kwity Paye and Yannick Ngakoue are questionable too, with Ngakoue’s back injury popping up late in the week.

Week 12 Injury Report

Steelers Injury, Status Colts Injury, Status
Miles Boykin, WR Oblique, Questionable DeForest Buckner, DT Ribs/Illness, Questionable
Robert Spillane, LB Back, Questionable Kylen Granson, TE Illness, Questionable
Ahkello Witherspoon, CB Hamstring, OUT Kwity Paye, DE Ankle, Questionable
Jaylen Warren, RB Hamstring, OUT Yannick Ngakoue, DE Back, Questionable

The injury to Warren is the most notable. Even with Najee Harris waking up the last two weeks, the rookie has at least provided a little insurance.

Steelers vs Colts Offensive Comparison

Neither of these teams will be confused for league-leading offenses this year.

The Colts tried to make Matt Ryan work. Then Frank Reich switched to Sam Ehlinger. Then that wasn’t working and so Indy fired Reich for Saturday and went back to Ryan.

The Steelers started with Mitch Trubisky and then switched to Kenny Pickett. After tossing just two touchdowns to eight interceptions over his first five games (four starts), Pickett has one TD and no interceptions over his last two games.

While his completion percentage is lower over the last two weeks, his QB rating is nearly 20 points higher than those first five games.

Offensive Comparison

Steelers
VS
Colts
64.0% (19th) Completion Percentage 68.2% (4th)
2,2228 (22nd) Passing Yards 2,747 (7th)
7 (32nd) TD 10 (27th)
10 (T-3rd) INT 10 (T-3rd)
1,078 (23rd)
Rushing Yards 1,086 (22nd)
4.2 (22nd) YPC 4.1 (25th)
8 (24th)
Rushing TD 6 (29th)

This game will likely come down to which back, Harris or Jonathan Taylor can dominate.

After a dominant 2021, Taylor has had an up-and-down 2022. He burst out of the gates in Week 1 with 161 yards, but then battled a fluctuating YPC and an ankle injury. He hung 147 yards on the Raiders two weeks ago, but only punched out 84 yards on 22 carries last week.

The Steelers have allowed the sixth-fewest rushing yards, and the fifth lowest YPC.

Steelers vs Colts Prediction

This Monday Nighter could be a defensive battle, and points will be at a premium.

The illness making its way through the Colts’ locker room is a bit troubling. How that escalates before Monday night could shift things.

The under is tempting, even though it’s a low number. But this feels like a spot where Mike Tomlin should out-duel Saturday.

The Pick: Steelers (+118); 1 unit
