The reigning-AFC champion New England Patriots made a big splash on Monday, acquiring AJ Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
The Brown deal didn’t shift New England’s futures prices as much as the Myles Garrett trade improved the Rams Super Bowl odds, but the Pats did see a modest improvement.
Updated Super Bowl Odds After AJ Brown Trade
Before the trade, the Patriots were trading at just 4¢ (equal to +2400 odds) at prediction site Kalshi. After the trade, New England had entered the top-ten favorites at 5¢ (equal to +1900 odds) in the Super Bowl 61 odds.
At theScore Bet, bet365, and DraftKings, New England improved to +1600.
New England also got a modest bump in the NFL division odds, moving from +135 to +125, while favored Buffalo went from -130 to -125.
AJ Brown WR Stats
Brown entered the upper stratosphere of receivers in his third season in the league (2022), when he racked up 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns in a full 17 games. He finished that season rated third among wide receivers in Net Grade at PFF. He followed that up with another 1400-yard season in 2023, but his production has been on the decline the last two years.
If you ask him, it’s because Philadelphia’s offensive scheme is in shambles and ignores obvious his talents.
In New England, he should have ample opportunity to prove himself right. New England’s leading receiver from last season, Stefon Diggs (1,103 yards), was released in March. No one else on the team had more than 768 yards and no other wideout had more than 551. In short, AJ Brown becomes the undisputed top target for third-year gunslinger Mac Jones, who threw for 4,394 yards and posted a 113.5 passer rating while finishing runner-up to Matthew Stafford in the NFL MVP race.
