  • Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings should be forced into many passing situations
  • The Chicago Bears should feed David Montgomery plenty of carries on Sunday
  • 2019 Props Record: 4-2 (+385)

With the Green Bay Packers’ loss on Thursday Night Football, the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings contest gains importance in the NFC North standings. Although the game is expected to be very tight, we’ve got a few player props here where we might be able to pick up a few bucks. Here’s what we like:

Prop #1: David Montgomery Rushing Attempt Odds

David Montgomery To Have At Least 15 Carries Odds
Yes -115

*Odds taken 09/28/19

The Bears are coming off a big win on Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins. While many people will look at the stat box and see that Mitchell Trubisky posted good numbers with three touchdown passes, the reality is that the Redskins made it very easy on him. He did not have a great game.

For the Bears to win on Sunday, they’re going to have to feed David Montgomery a lot of carries and avoid any Trubisky mistakes. Fifteen is a high number as a lot of those carries figure to go nowhere against a tough defense but I expect the Bears to stay committed to the run. Montgomery has 13 and 18 carries in his last two games.

Prop #2: Kirk Cousins Passing Yards Total Odds

Kirk Cousins Passing Yards O/U Odds
Over 220.5 -113
Under 220.5 -113

I don’t expect the Vikings will be able to run the ball very well on Sunday, which means the game will be put on Kirk Cousins’ shoulders. Of course, that’s never a good thing – especially against a good defense – but I think 221 is a reasonable mark for him to get over.

Cousins had 230 passing yards against Green Bay a couple of weeks ago and should be in that range once again. Even if he makes mistakes through the air, the Vikings will probably have to keep passing to move the ball. Case Keenum had 332 passing yards against this Bears defense, so I like the over here.

Prop #3: Dalvin Cook Reception Total Odds

Dalvin Cook Receptions O/U Odds
Over 3.5 -113
Under 3.5 -113

Sticking with the same theme here, I think that Cook will be the Bears No. 1 priority. The Vikings simply won’t be able to line up and pound away with him as the Bears front-seven is stout. They’re going to have to find creative ways to get him the ball without the predictable handoffs.

However, 3.5 receptions is high for Cook, who does not get many looks in the passing game. Cook had four catches on five targets last week but had a total of five catches in his first two games. The Bears are going to be on him like a hawk as he’s who they’ll be scheming to stop. I’ll play the under here.
