  • Week 2 in the NFL features a large number of games with spreads hovering around key numbers
  • Using select advanced metrics, I have identified which of these matchups are best suited for teasing the spread through the key numbers
  • See which three spreads I am locking into my Week 2 NFL parlay

The NFL Week 2 slate presents plenty of value for those willing to look past marquee matchups and focus purely on market inefficiencies. Each week, I will build this NFL parlay on structural advantage, not gut feelings or trending narratives. My methodology requires identifying specific spreads that can be teased through the NFL key numbers of both 3 and 7 – the classic Stanford Wong teaser. Once those matchups are isolated, every potential pick is stress-tested against advanced metrics like net pass yards per attempt, overall success rate, pressure rate, red zone efficiency, explosive play divergence, and more.

From the large number of games that qualify under the criteria above, the three picks below come with the strongest advantage in the advanced metrics mentioned. Here’s the three-leg NFL parlay I am playing in Week 2.

NFL Parlay for Week 2 – Best Teaser

LegMatchupOriginal SpreadTeased Spread / Pick
1Philadelphia Eagles @ Tennessee TitansEagles -7Eagles -1
2New Orleans Saints @ Baltimore RavensRavens -8.5Ravens -2.5
3Cleveland Browns @ Tampa Bay BuccaneersBuccaneers -8.5Buccaneers -2.5

All three selections on this parlay card are pure Wong teasers, specifically engineered to cross the NFL’s most critical scoring margins. However, I do want to clarify that a traditional Wong teaser typically only includes two legs. So, feel free to stick with the first two in the table above, if you prefer. I felt confident enough in the third pick to add another leg.

When shopping for the best price, when it comes to sportsbooks, DraftKings had the clear best odds for this teaser at +143. But prediction markets are also now offering what they call “combos,” and you can choose whatever spread you want. If you’re not already registered, sign up at Polymarket now to start trading!

Quickly looking back, Green Bay’s unbelievable fourth quarter collapse crushed last week’s teaser, which felt like an easy cash after the Texans kept up with the Bills. Sadly, close doesn’t make you any money when betting on sports.

But last week’s picks had to be based on metrics from last season and some gut feel. This week’s parlay has been built entirely from Week 1 metrics, with me throwing out the legs I felt could be lying to us from the small sample size. You can read my full analysis on all three picks in my Week 2 parlay below.

Philadelphia Eagles -1 (Teased from -7)

The metric case here is driven by a big net pass yards per attempt differential. Philadelphia enters this matchup boasting a +3.30 net pass YPA (8.12 offensive YPA vs. 4.82 allowed), while Tennessee is drowning in a -4.58 deficit (4.38 offensive vs. 8.96 allowed). This creates a monstrous +7.88 YPA gap between the two squads, easily shattering my threshold of +1.5 to +2.0 YPA for an elite advantage.

Dominating the air translates directly to controlling the game script, and the Titans’ inability to push the ball downfield leaves them highly vulnerable.

On top of that, the Eagles have the clear advantage in the following advanced metrics as well:

  • Success rate differential: Eagles +4.6%
  • Pressure rate vs allowed: Eagles +28%
  • Turnovers per game vs net yards per play divergence: Eagles +3.6 net YPP
  • Explosive play differential: Eagles +8.8%

I may be sleeping on the Jets, but Tennessee’s Week 1 performance against what I believe is an average-at-best team is very concerning. The Titans generated pressure on just 4.2% of dropbacks, while allowing pressure on 40.6% of their own dropbacks. They don’t even have the big-play explosion in their offense to get lucky here and there – they generated explosive plays on 4.3% of snaps.

The Eagles feel like a good bet against the spread without the tease. I love getting them through both 7 and 3, letting the leg at least push if they win the game.

Baltimore Ravens -2.5 (Teased from -8.5)

Baltimore stands out as the strongest metric play on the board thanks to an overwhelming overall success rate differential. The Ravens boast a +2.9% net success rate (42% offensively vs. 39.1% allowed), whereas the Saints operate at a -3.4% deficit. This combined gap of +6.3% surpasses our +6.0% threshold.

This baseline efficiency fundamentally prevents New Orleans from sustaining drives, especially against a Baltimore defense generating a 29% pressure rate. The Saints already turned the ball over three times against the Lions in Week 1, and we could see a similar number against an aggressive Jesse Minter defense.

The Ravens also generated chunk plays on a league-high 21% of their offensive snaps, and bring a net yards per play metric of +3.23 into the matchup. These numbers would certainly take a hit if Zay Flowers is unable to suit up, but the Ravens still have more than enough firepower to win this game by a field goal.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -2.5 (Teased from -8.5)

Even after the Buccaneers played an extremely sloppy game against the Bengals last week, where they turned the ball over four times, they still enter their matchup with the Browns holding advantages in key metrics.

Cleveland allowed 10.6 yards per passing attempt last week, giving the Bucs a strong +1.79 net YPA advantage. Neither team protected their QB very well, as the Bucs allowed pressure on 39.3% of their dropbacks, but the Browns allowed pressure on 45.5% of dropbacks. Tampa Bay has a huge +10.1% advantage in this metric as well.

On top of that, the Bucs’ turnover problem masked a solid +0.55 net yards per play from last week, making them a textbook candidate for positive regression.
