NFL Week 2 Upset Picks

Let’a dive into our top Week 2 underdog picks that could pad your bankroll with upset wins.

Focus on Jets Defense in Wake of Aaron Rodgers Injury

Even Bills fans had to fail for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets after the future Hall-of-Famer went down with a season-ending injury on Buffalo’s first drive in last Monday night’s date at MetLife Stadium. However, much to the Jets’ credit, they leveraged what worked so well for them last season on their way to a 22-16 victory over the Bills, slamming the door on the vaunted Buffalo attack with an impressive defensive performance.

Now faced with another high-powered opponent, the Jets have faded to lengthy 9-point underdogs on the NFL odds after opening at +3. Indeed, they face a Cowboys squad coming off a franchise record-setting 40-0 rout of the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. However, a repeat performance by the Cowboys seems hardly likely.

While the weather played a factor, it was not a standout performance by Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who musted just 143 yards on 13-for-24 passing while failing to find the end zone. Indeed, the Cowboys’ fast start that so demoralized the Giants had more to do with capitalizing on mistakes rather than generating offense. They are unlikely to see a similar undisciplined performance out of the Jets, particularly the defense, which so masterfully shut down the Bills attack last week.

The Jets may be missing Breece Hall, but Dallas could be without Brandin Cooks and is dealing with injuries on their offensive line. Look for New York to keep things close in a low-scoring contest and possibly pull out the win in our NFL upset picks.

Rams Silence Doubters with Week 1 Upset

Little was expected of the Los Angeles Rams when they opened their schedule last weekend in Seattle. But even with star receiver Cooper Kupp injured, quarterback Matthew Stafford managed to find ways to set the pace of the contest while making the best of the downfield options available to him while leading LA to a 30-13 rout of the Seahawks.

Listed as 7.5-point home underdogs, the Rams face a much bigger challenge in Sunday’s home date with the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers if they want to pull off another win in the NFL upsets picks, who are gunning for a 12th straight regular-season win. With Stafford flashing vintage form, and the backfield duo of Cam Akers and Kyren Williams both producing, the Rams have the tools to generate points.

But can they turn in the same type of defensive performance against the Niners that limited Seattle to just 180 total yards last week. Much will hinge on this team’s ability to slow down rusher Christian McCaffrey, who ran for 152 yards and one score last week in Pittsburgh. However, this Rams rush defense should not be underestimated after giving up just 18 total yards last week, and limiting opponents to just five total scoring runs over their past seven games.

Jordan Love Poised to Build on Strong Debut as Packers Starter

It didn’t take long for Jordan Love to make Green Bay Packers fans forget all about Aaron Rodgers. Love shone in his debut as the Packers undisputed starter last weekend, tossing for 245 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-20 beat down of the Chicago Bears. Yes, that big win came against the freefalling Bears, but there is little reason to think that Love and the Packers can’t duplicate that effort on Sunday, when they visit the Atlanta Falcons as 1.5-point underdogs on the NFL Week 2 odds.

The Falcons are coming off a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers last week, but it would be a stretch to describe the win as a dominant performance. Little separated the two teams early on, but that changed in the late stages as Atlanta made the Panthers pay for costly turnovers.

Atlanta enjoys some strong offensive weapons, most notably rookie rusher Bijan Robinson, but Desmond Ridder has yet to prove he is an NFL quarterback, and even with a strong backfield., he is unlikely to be able to keep pace with a Packers attack led by love and Aaron Jones.
