The Boston Bruins (5-2-0) visit Honda Center on Friday, where the Anaheim Ducks (4-2-0) are waiting as slight home underdogs.
Boston has won three straight, and David Pastrnak has been firing away with 27 shots on goal through seven games. Anaheim counters with a power play that has been hard to stop early this season.
Puck drop is 10:00 PM ET. My Bruins vs Ducks prediction and picks are below, along with the full Friday NHL betting line.
Bruins vs Ducks Prediction
- Ducks to Win (49¢ / +104 on Kalshi)
I’m siding with Anaheim on home-ice advantage in my Bruins vs. Ducks prediction. A Ducks contract trades at 49¢ on Kalshi, which is close to a 49d chance, and I’m comfortable taking a position at that price.
Recent history, including games from previous seasons, favors the Ducks in this matchup. Anaheim has won its last five games against Boston, and it’s 6-1 straight up over its last seven games following a loss. The Ducks are also 3-1 over their last four home games against teams with winning records.
Special teams push me further toward Anaheim. The Ducks are converting 33.3% of their power plays and killing 90.5% of their penalties this season. Boston sits at 16.7% on the power play and 76.0% on the kill, so the Ducks hold the edge on both sides if this turns into a whistle-heavy night.

Bruins vs Ducks Picks
- Over 6.5 Goals (+105 at theScore Bet)
My first Bruins vs Ducks pick builds off that special teams gap. The Over pays +105 at theScore Bet, which is roughly a 48.8% implied probability.
Both offenses have produced this season. Boston averages 3.71 goals per game through seven games, and Anaheim averages 3.33 through six. Put Anaheim’s 33.3% power play against Boston’s 76.0% penalty kill, and the Ducks have a path to extra goals every time the Bruins head to the box.
Lukas Dostal’s .892 save percentage in five appearances also gives the Bruins’ shooters something to work with.
- Charlie McAvoy Over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-165 at Bet365)
I’m turning to the Boston blueline to wrap up my Bruins vs Ducks picks. McAvoy’s price implies a 60% chance, and across a sample spanning seasons, he has cleared 1.5 shots in eight of his last nine road games following a Bruins win. With Boston on a three-game winning streak, Friday fits the bill.
Closing Odds/Prices via theScore Bet, Kalshi, and Bet365 as of October 16th at 10:42 pm ET.
Bruins vs Ducks Friday NHL Betting Line
The Bruins vs. Ducks Friday NHL betting line has Boston as a slight road favorite. Boston’s -115 moneyline carries a 53.5% implied probability, while Anaheim’s -105 sits at 51.2%. Strip out the vig and it’s about 51% to 49%, essentially a coin flip.
Kalshi lands in the same place, with Boston at 52¢ and Anaheim at 49¢. Boston -1.5 at +190 implies about a 34.5% chance of a multi-goal Bruins win, and the Under 6.5 at -120 implies roughly 54.5%. chanc3.
Closing Odds/Prices via theScore Bet, Kalshi, Caesars Sportsbook and BetMGM as of October 16th at 10:50 pm ET. New users can grab the theScore Bet promo code before betting Friday’s NHL slate.
Bruins vs Ducks Team Stats
Boston holds several statistical advantages in this Bruins vs Ducks comparison. The B’s hold a relative edge in shot-attempt share (48.6% to 45.9%) and allow fewer goals per game (2.14 to 2.67).
Anaheim’s case rests on special teams, where it leads both categories by a wide margin this season.
Bruins vs Ducks Starting Goalies
Neither team has confirmed a starter for the Bruins vs Ducks game. Swayman and Dostal have handled most of the work for their clubs, so they’re the names to watch.
Swayman has the stronger numbers this season with a .930 save percentage and 1.99 GAA. Dostal sits at .892 and 2.98, and he’ll need a better night for the Ducks position to pay off.
