The Boston Bruins visit the Winnipeg Jets in the latter’s first game of the campaign. Boston opened its schedule with a 3-0 win over the New York Rangers Tuesday, as they fight to keep the momentum going.
The Bruins controlled the opener defensively, and Jeremy Swayman stopped all 24 shots he faced. Winnipeg now gets its first game of the campaign, after waiting to get on the ice for the first time. They, of course, won’t be without three-time Vezina Trophy goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, as he requested a trade and the team has suspended him for not showing up to the team.
In this breakdown, I’ll review the NHL odds, available betting splits, and player props. Both teams are considerable longshots in the Stanley Cup odds, as they sport identical +10000 odds to lift Lord Stanley in June.
Bruins vs Jets Prediction & Best Bets
The Bruins have won three of their last four road games, while Winnipeg is 1-5 (16.7%) against winning teams over its last six games overall. The series matchup is tight, with each winning half of the previous six duels.
Boston’s 3-0 opening-night result is useful evidence, but it is still only one game. The Bruins produced 23 shots and held the Rangers scoreless, while Winnipeg is entering its first regular-season contest. Boston costs 48¢ on Kalshi, which works out to approximately +108 in American moneyline terms and a 48% implied chance.
Boston captain David Pastrnak’s over 3.5 shots on goal at +106 is my favorite NHL player props selection. He is a high-volume shooter and a central part of Boston’s power play. The plus-money price offers a reasonable way to target his offensive role without needing Boston to win by a specific margin.
Bruins vs Jets Public Betting Splits & Handle
Here’s how a breakdown of how the public views this game in the NHL public betting splits.
- Moneyline: Winnipeg has 59% of the handle, while Boston has 67% of the tickets.
- Total: The Over has a whopping 93% of the money and 91% of the bets.
- Puck line: 61% of wagers are on Boston to cover the +1.5 puckline, and 58% of the cash is on the road squad.
Bruins vs Jets Game Odds
Prices from Kalshi as of October 2. Compare available prices through our NHL betting apps.
Buying Boston at 48¢ means risking 48¢ to make 52¢ if the Bruins win. Winnipeg’s 53¢ price makes the Jets the slight market favorite, so this is an underdog pick rather than a bet on a heavily favored road team.
Bruins vs Jets Player Props
- Player-prop pick: David Pastrnak Over 3.5 shots on goal (+105 at DraftKings)
Pastrnak needs at least four shots on goal to cash the over. He’s cleared the 4+ shot threshold in five of his last seven affairs.
Bruins vs Jets Goalie Matchup
Jeremy Swayman made 24 saves in Boston’s opener. Off-season acquisition Stuart Skinner will be between the pipes for the Jets, while their superstar netminder Connor Hellebuyck remains away from the team as he seeks a trade.
