New Jersey swung big on Friday, acquiring Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets. The deal ends Hellebuyck’s holdout and hands the Devils a three-time Vezina winner who also took home the Hart Trophy in 2025.
A goalie with that resume can change a regular season. The 2027 Stanley Cup Odds are a different test, though, and the Devils Stanley Cup odds now carry the weight of a four-round playoff run.
Here’s where New Jersey sits on the board, plus whether I think the price is worth chasing.
Devils Stanley Cup Odds After Hellebuyck Trade
The Devils Stanley Cup odds on Kalshi cost 6¢ for a YES contract. That implies about a 6% chance New Jersey wins the championship, or roughly six wins in 100 comparable seasons. Each contract pays $1 if the Devils win, before fees.
Kalshi’s hourly price history shows the Devils around 4% early Friday, rising to roughly 6.6% in the latest hourly reading after the trade news. That is about a 2.6-percentage-point increase. Those historical traded prices differ from the live 6¢ buy quote; they are not sportsbook lines.
Devils Stanley Cup Odds vs the Favorites

Odds as of Oct. 23 at BetMGM.
The Devils Stanley Cup odds of +1500 at BetMGM translate to a 6.25% raw implied chance, which lines up almost exactly with Kalshi’s 6¢ price. That leaves New Jersey outside the top six, a full tier behind co-favorites Carolina and Colorado at +700 (12.5% each).
Why I’m Passing on Devils Cup Odds
I like this trade for New Jersey over the long haul, but I’m not betting the Devils to win the 2027 Cup at +1500. That price assumes Hellebuyck shows up as the Hart Trophy version of himself, and his last two seasons don’t promise that.
His 2025 playoff run ended at 6-7 with a 3.08 GAA and .866 save percentage. Last season, he went 23-23-11 with a .895 save percentage and 2.86 GAA across 57 games for a Jets team that missed the playoffs.
For his career, Hellebuyck is 24-34 with a 2.90 GAA and .903 save percentage in 58 playoff games through 2025. That doesn’t mean he can’t win big games. He posted a .922 save percentage over 17 games in 2018 and a .931 across eight games in 2021.
He also stopped 41 shots in a 2-1 overtime win over Canada for Olympic gold on Feb. 22, with Jack Hughes scoring the winner. Still, one game is a long way from four best-of-seven rounds. I don’t see enough of a discount at 6% to buy in.
Devils Playoff Odds and What Comes Next
My pick: Devils to make the playoffs (70¢ on Kalshi).
New Jersey’s playoff odds imply about a 70% chance of qualifying, approximately seven times in 10. The 70¢ contract returns $1 if the Devils make it, a 30¢ profit before fees. That is roughly equivalent to -233 in American odds.
Kalshi’s hourly history had New Jersey around 63.5% early Friday, approximately -174, before reaching about 69.8% in the latest reading. That is a gain of roughly 6.3 percentage points. Compare the current board with our Odds to Make the NHL Playoffs tracker.
I like the Devils to get in with Hellebuyck stabilizing the crease behind Jack Hughes. His regular-season ceiling makes playoff qualification a much more appealing bet to me than asking New Jersey to survive four rounds and win the Cup.
The fun part is thinking bigger. Quinn Hughes was on that same gold-medal team with Jack and Hellebuyck, and reuniting the brothers in New Jersey would be quite the Olympic sequel. That’s my own roster-building wish, not anything that’s been reported.
Winnipeg Jets Stanley Cup Odds
Winnipeg sits at +15000 at BetMGM, roughly a 0.66% implied shot, while a Jets YES contract costs 1¢ on Kalshi. Both prices put the Jets well outside the contender conversation. Anyone looking to trade either side can check out our Kalshi promo code.
The return points toward a build. Dawson Mercer (four assists in 10 games) and Alexander Command, the No. 12 pick in 2026, headline the package. Nick Bjugstad, a 2029 second and a 2027 seventh are also heading to Winnipeg.
Nico Daws is also part of the return.
