Monday’s NHL slate features three games with some interesting prop angles. Vegas visits Minnesota in the headliner, Florida heads to Buffalo for an afternoon matinee, and Ottawa travels to New Jersey. The shot volume and special teams mismatches across this card give us plenty to work with.
I’m targeting three-shot props and two anytime goalscorer picks on Monday. The focus is on high-usage forwards who are already established volume shooters and face defenses with exploitable weaknesses on the penalty kill.
Here are my NHL player props and anytime goalscorer picks for Monday, October 12.

NHL Shot Props for Monday
Tage Thompson 4+ Shots on Goal (+100 at BetMGM)
My Tage Thompson shots prop starts with his 29 shots on goal through five games, averaging 5.8 per contest. He logs nearly 20 minutes of ice time per game with over three minutes on the power play. The volume is there every night regardless of matchup.
Florida allows 23.2 shots per game and runs a 77.3% penalty kill. Thompson is Buffalo’s primary trigger man and should generate plenty of chances. At +110, you’re getting plus-money on a number well below his current pace.
Timo Meier 3+ Shots on Goal (-148 at Caesars Sportsbook)
My Timo Meier shots pick is backed by 22 shots in four games this season (5.5 per game) while averaging just under 18 minutes of ice time. He’s a volume shooter by nature and has been firing from everywhere early on.
Ottawa allows 26.2 shots per game and carries a 78.3% penalty kill. With New Jersey pushing the pace in transition, Meier should see plenty of looks from the top six. At -122, the juice is reasonable for a guy shooting at his current clip.
Jack Eichel 3+ Shots on Goal (-165 at BetMGM)
My Jack Eichel shots prop leans on a start featuring 12 points and 18 shots on goal through six games, averaging 3.0 per contest with over 21 minutes of ice time. He drives a Vegas power play clicking at 30.4%.
Minnesota allows 28.0 shots per game. Eichel controls possession and generates quality chances in the offensive zone every shift. At 3.0 shots per game, the 3+ line is right at his average, but the matchup supports clearing it.
NHL Anytime Goalscorer Picks
Matthew Tkachuk Anytime Goal (+190 at Bet365)
My Matthew Tkachuk anytime goalscorer pick starts with his three goals in five games. He plays a prominent role on the power play. His net-front role gives him a direct route to scoring chances.
Buffalo’s penalty kill sits at 62.5% (10-for-16). Projected starter Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has a .782 save percentage. Tkachuk makes his living around the crease, and at +180 this is a strong price on a player in a favorable matchup.
Kirill Kaprizov Anytime Goal (+131 at Caesars Sportsbook)
My Kirill Kaprizov anytime goalscorer pick follows his six goals in five games. He anchors a Minnesota power play, converting at 37.5%. He already has two power-play goals and averages over 21 minutes of ice time per night. His fast start also makes him worth following in the Rocket Richard odds.
Vegas has killed 13 of 16 penalties (81.3%) early on. Kaprizov’s release is one of the best in the league, and he’s finding the net from everywhere right now. At +130 he’s the top anytime goalscorer play on Monday’s board.
