Penguins Road Betting Favorites in Tuesday NHL Odds

The Penguins are a very solid 5-1-1 on the road since the beginning of February scoring impressive wins against the likes of the Bruins and the Lightning during that span. At one point in November, they found themselves around the +3000 mark in the Stanley Cup odds, but that number has shortened greatly to around +1600 right now.

They have been ravaged by injuries throughout the season, but are currently icing a lineup that is about as healthy as they could hope for. They are 14-6-4 since Evgeni Malkin returned to the lineup in mid-January, with the Russian center averaging a point per game.

The other half of the Penguins veteran dynamic duo, Sidney Crosby has points in 16 of his last 17 games and had the empty net dagger in a big win over the Hurricanes on Sunday. Although it’s probably a long shot, Crosby could be making a run to join the top contenders in the Hart Trophy odds, given his consistent production and the Penguins move up the standings.

Since the New Year, Sid the Kid has the 7th most points in the league with 40, just five behind the league leader during that timeframe, the Flames Johnny Gaudreau. The Penguins as a team have the 5th best points percentage in the league in 2022.

Roman Josi Undervalued in Norris Trophy Odds

The Predators may be the most surprising team currently holding a spot in the Western Conference playoff race. Before the season began they were sitting at around +235 in the Western Conference Playoff odds, but now are overwhelming favorites to make the postseason at -1000.

They’re 4-1 in their last five and while Matt Duchene is having a terrific comeback season, already tying a career-high 31 goals after scoring just 6 times last year, the player the Preds most have to thank for where they are is defenseman Roman Josi, who has to be amongst the most underrated players in the league.

While Cale Makar gets most of the accolades and is a -286 betting favorite in the Norris Trophy odds, Josi leads all defenseman in points with 66. He’s also the only blueliner in the entire league to lead his team in points. It’s actually quite astounding he sits at +1300, 4th in the Norris Trophy betting odds.

Josi is also as solid as they come in his own zone. Besides an ugly 7-4 loss to the Blues, the Preds allowed just four goals in their four wins over the last five games, and a lot of that has to do with Josi, who averages over 25 minutes of ice time per game. The under is 5-1 in the Predators’ last six games playing on one days rest.

This will be the first meeting between the Penguins and Predators in over two years.

Penguins vs Predators Pick & Prediction

The betting lines have this game as basically a pick’em in the Tuesday NHL odds, and for good reason. The home team is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings, which favors the Preds. The favorite is 9-4 in the last 13, advantage Pittsburgh, so something has to give.

This looks like it will be a tight low scoring affair. We’ve already detailed how the Preds have been playing low scoring hockey of late, and the Penguins have allowed just 14 goals over their last seven. The under is 5-1 in the Predators’ last six home games and 3-0-2 in the Penguins’ last five following a win. Although Tennessee sports bettors might not like taking the under at home, but it is the right side.

It’s a pretty good value bet as well at -105, so take under 6 goals in the Tuesday NHL odds at Barstool Sportsbook.
