The Colorado Avalanche (9-6-1) come home Thursday looking to shake off a 7-2 beating in Columbus. The Nashville Predators (6-4-5) arrive feeling better about themselves after a 4-1 win over Carolina on Tuesday.
Puck drop is 9:30pm ET at Ball Arena. Even after that lopsided loss, sportsbooks still lean hard on the Avs in the latest NHL odds.
Here are my Predators vs Avalanche prediction and late picks for Thursday night.
Predators vs Avalanche Prediction
- Avalanche ML (-205 at DraftKings)
I’m laying the price with Colorado for my Predators vs Avalanche prediction. It isn’t cheap. But the Avs have more high-end talent and they get this one on home ice.
Tuesday in Columbus was ugly. The Blue Jackets put seven past Colorado one night after the Avs won 5-2 in Chicago.
That loss snapped a three-game win streak. And the top guys still produced. Cale Makar had a goal and an assist, while Nathan MacKinnon added two helpers.
Nashville deserves credit here. The Preds have points in five of their last six, and they handled Carolina comfortably on Tuesday. I won’t pretend this team is sliding.
Still, five of Nashville’s 15 games have ended in overtime or shootout losses. That’s how a team with six wins sits just two points back of Colorado.
The Avs have the better record and the bigger names. I expect a better effort at home after the Columbus mess. It’s not a lock at this price, but I’m siding with Colorado.
Predators vs Avalanche Odds
Odds as of Nov. 5 at 12:29am ET. Grab a DraftKings promo code to bet on NHL games this season.
The Predators vs Avalanche odds at DraftKings have Colorado at -205 on the moneyline, about a 67.2% implied chance. Nashville sits at +170, which works out to roughly 37%.
Those two numbers add up to more than 100% because of the book’s margin. They tell you where the price is, not the true odds of either team winning.
On the puck line, Colorado -1.5 pays +120 (about 45.5% implied), while Nashville +1.5 costs -142. The total is 6.5, with the Under shaded to -118 (around 54.1%) and the Over at -102.
Predators vs Avalanche Picks
My top Predators vs Avalanche pick is the Avs moneyline at -205. At that price, you’re risking $205 to win $100, so size it accordingly.
Want a bigger payout? Colorado -1.5 is sitting at +120. I’m passing. That bet needs a two-goal win, and this team just gave up seven two nights ago.
I’m also staying off the total. With the Over and Under both priced close to even, I don’t see an edge either way.
