It’s an Original Six matinee affair when the Bruins play host to the Rangers on Saturday, April 23rd. The faceoff is scheduled to go at 3:00 pm Eastern at TD Garden in Boston and will be televised nationally on ABC. The Bruins are -130 moneyline home favorites in the Saturday NHL Rangers vs Bruins odds.

Rangers vs Bruins Odds

Game Time Team Puck Line Total Moneyline
3:00pm ET New York Rangers +1.5 (-230) O 5.5 (-110) +110

Odds as of April 22nd at Caesars Sportsbook

Although these teams have been going in the opposite direction, with the Rangers performing much more efficiently of late, the Bruins are the favorite on the moneyline. Boston’s -130 odds give them an implied win probability of 56.52% for this game.

Bruins Continue Going Under Total in NHL Odds

No matter what they do, the Bruins just can’t find the back of the net of late. They fired 52 shots in a 4-0 loss to the Penguins on Thursday but came up empty against Pens backup goalie Casey DeSmith.

Sniper David Pastrnak went down with an injury on April 4th, and in eight games the Bruins have played without him, they’ve managed just 16 goals, an average of 2 per game. It doesn’t look like the winger will make it back for this afternoon matchup with the Rangers, but the good news for Boston is he’s expected to return shortly afterwards.

It looks as though Boston will be locked into a Wild Card playoff spot, as they’ve stumbled to a 3-5-0 record without the scoring of Pastrnak who is usually amongst the favorites in the Rocket Richard Trophy odds but is out of the running this year.

The Bruins haven’t gone over the total in their last seven games, hitting the under five times and pushing twice.

Rangers on Fire Since Trade Deadline

One of the biggest winners of the NHL trade deadline at this point are the New York Rangers, who have a .767 points percentage since that time, good for fifth in the league entering Friday night’s action.

Andrew Copp has been a terrific acquisition, with eight goals and 18 points in only 15 games in a Rangers uniform. The forward’s status for Saturday is questionable with a lower-body injury, which is bad news for him as he’s coming off a first-period hat-trick performance in a 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Maybe some extra offense will come from the back end. Although Roman Josi and Cale Makar are the clear choices in the Norris Trophy odds this season, defenseman Adam Fox has put together another spectacular year averaging almost a point per game. He’s fourth in scoring amongst blueliners and had three helpers against the Isles.

The Rangers calling card all season has been their defense. Igor Shesterkin’s Vezina Trophy odds continue to get shorter and shorter, as he has basically locked up that award at this point. As a team, the Blueshirts have allowed just 2.4 goals per game this year, good for second in the entire league.

The Rangers have been fairly successful against the Bruins recently, winning four out of their last five matchups, and taking both games this season.

03/13/2021 BOS 0 – NYR 4 NYR NYR Under

Continuing with the defensive minded narrative of these two sides, they’ve combined to go under the total in seven of their last 10 meetings, with the oddsmakers steadily setting the number at 5.5 goals.

Rangers vs Bruins Pick & Prediction

Betting the under seems like the most logical pick in the Rangers vs Bruins Saturday NHL odds. On top of all the statistics and trends already mentioned, the Rangers have the best return on investment in the league when you bet them to go under the total at 15.96%.

The Bruins and Rangers play a similar style of game so you’d expect a tough low scoring battle between two teams who are neck and neck in the current Stanley Cup odds.

While Boston is more desperate for a win here, a better value bet and prediction is to take the Rangers as road underdogs on the moneyline at +110. They’ve won five in a row away from Madison Square Garden, four of those as the underdog. Expect them to continue their run of good form, and pick them to win at Caesars Sportsbook.

Pick: New York Rangers Moneyline (+110)
