  • Dallas’ big line of Radulov, Benn and Seguin have been on fire in this series with 16 points between them
  • The Predators have yet to show any serious offensive chemistry against Dallas
  • Is there value in giving the Stars 1-3 odds to win in the first round?

The Dallas Stars were all business yesterday as they took a 3-2 series lead over the Nashville Predators in Saturday’s 5-3 win in Nashville.

They can wrap it up at home in Game 6, but is there enough value for you to wager on Dallas?

Seguin and company have been full value in this series

Dallas’ top line of Alexander Radulov, Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin were in fine form against the Predators, as Radulov scored two goals, Seguin had a goal and an assist, and Benn had three assists in a 5-3 win at Bridgestone Arena.

They have 16 total points in this series and Dallas has scored 10 goals in the last two games.

Nashville’s top line has been virtually non-existent in this series with Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen and Viktor Arvidsson combining for two points (a goal by Forsberg and an assist by Johansen) in four games.

There wasn’t much change in Game 5, as only Ryan Johansen was able to add a goal for the Predators.

Nashville also gave the puck away 19 times, and the Stars took advantage of those miscues.

After Game 3 it seemed as though Nashville was in command of this series, up 2-1 and with odds at -250 to advance to Round 2.

The best defense is a good defense

The Stars defense has been tough in this series, allowing 11 goals in only five games to go with 16 goals scored.

Nashville, whose defense boasts the likes of P.K. Subban, Ryan Ellis, and Roman Josi haven’t looked as good as they did in past post seasons. Subban has two points and is a minus-2.

Stars Goalie Bishop has the edge over Predators Rinne in this series

Both goaltenders in this series have struggled at times too but Ben Bishop has managed to rebound after a weak Game 3. His team’s play has improved in front of him as well. Bishop has a 3-2-0 record with a 2.18 goals-against average and .935 save percentage.

Pekka Rinne, on the other hand, has allowed 10 goals in two games. He has a 2-3 record with a 3.56 goals against average .883 save percentage.

The best bet here is to go with the Stars for Game 6. Dallas has the momentum to close out the series. Their offense and goaltending have been getting better all series while Nashville looks out of sync.
