  • Expectations are that presumptive Joe Biden will complete his ticket next week.
  • After Susan Rice at +300, no other contender is shorter than +1600?

It appears that the time is going to finally arrive for Kamala Harris.

Presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden is ready to officially add a running mate to his 2020 ticket. Biden confirmed that he’ll be making the announcement next  week.

The oddsmakers believe strongly that Biden’s Presidential choice will be Harris.

The California Senator is the -180 favorite in the Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee odds. Susan Rice (+300) is the only other contender with odds shorter than +1600. Rice was the US Ambassador to the United Nations when Biden served as Barack Obama’s Vice-President.

Point Taken

Biden made a speech on Tuesday in Wilmington, Del. While at the podium, photographers zoomed in on a list of notes in Biden’s hand.

At the top of the list was the name of Harris. Next were five talking points.

Among the points were “Do not hold grudges,” “Campaigned with me & Jill,” “Talented,” “Great help to campaign”, and “Great respect for her”.

The Biden campaign declined to comment. Nonetheless, the notes are fueling discussion that Harris will be the nominee.

Biden-Harris Debate Fallout

Earlier this week, former Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd created a seed of doubt about Harris. He’s a member of Biden’s team vetting potential VP picks. Dodd indicated that Harris could be a loyalty risk.

Dodd expressed concern about the much-publicized clash between Harris and Biden during the first Democratic debate. Harris attacked Biden’s opposition to federally mandated school desegregation busing.

Critics were quick to point out that, as Attorney General of California, Harris prosecuted a bunch of Dodd‘s pals for mortgage fraud.

Bass Catching a Late Lifeline

A new name that’s suddenly heating up in the VP race is Karen Bass. She’s the US Representative for California’s 37th congressional district. Several prominent political figures bandied her name about in recent days.

The Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Bass doesn’t seek the spotlight. Therefore, her accomplishments tend to fly under the radar.

Bass is well-known in political circles, though. She’s well-respected on both sides of the aisle. That’s a rarity in today’s divisive political environment.

Bass was quick to diffuse media critiques building her up as the anti-Harris. That’s evidence of her character.

Harris Offers All Biden Needs

The reason why Dodd criticized Harris should instead be a point in her favor. She won’t back down from a fight. Harris isn’t afraid to get dirty.

That’s the way the Republicans play the game. Too often, Democrats who take the high road in response are viewed as soft.

Her work as attorney general in her home state makes Harris the perfect foil to Donald Trump’s law and order campaign. With two 70-somethings running for President, it’s good to remember that the VP is a heartbeat away from the Oval Office.

Someone who’s healthy, younger, and experienced is the ideal choice. Harris checks off all those boxes.

Pick: Kamala Harris (-150)
