Since Joe Biden announced plans to include a woman as part of his Presidential ticket, Michelle Obama’s name gets frequently mentioned.

Democrats, and more than a few Americans, certainly dream of putting an Obama back in the White House. Some, apparently, even think she should be at the head of the ticket.

The betting line on Michelle Obama being the 2020 Democratic Presidential candidate have shortened from +6500 on April 15th to +3300 today in the latest Democratic nomination odds.

2020 Democratic Presidential Odds

Candidate May 12th Odds April 15th Odds
Joe Biden -800 -1300
Hillary Clinton +675 +2275
Andrew Cuomo +1950 +1700
Michelle Obama +3300 +6500
Kamala Harris +13000 +12000

Odds taken May 12th.

Biden, the presumptive nominee, is still the odds-on favorite, but he has seen his line fade from -1300 to -800 over the same span of time.

Michelle Obama In The News

It doesn’t hurt Obama’s popularity that her face seems to be everywhere at the moment. Netflix released the documentary Becoming. It’s a behind the scenes look at the former First Lady’s life and the work she does.

The film follows on the success of Obama’s tour with her book of the same name. It was a tour that saw Obama pack arenas with people anxious to hear her speak.

All of this attention certainly has helped create a buzz around Obama. And it’s growing at the same time as Biden is being linked to seemingly suspect sexual assault accusations made by Tara Reade.

There remains a constituency within the Democratic party who continue to be uncertain as to whether Biden, 77, is up to task of bringing down incumbent President Donald Trump when ballots are cast on Nov. 3rd.

Trump’s Head Might Explode

Speaking of Trump, are there two words in the English language that trigger his fury more readily than “President Obama”? Just mention Obama around Trump and his face immediately shifts from its usual hue of orange into a searing red heat.

Imagine how it would unnerve Trump to find himself in a Presidential race against, not only another woman, but the wife of the man he so despises. As seen on an regular basis from Trump’s daily press briefings, nothing sets him off like being questioned by a woman – especially a woman of color.

Obama For VP?

When asked about Michelle Obama as a possible Vice-Presidential candidate on his ticket, Biden insisted he’d take her in a heartbeat. So would most Democratic supporters.

There’s even a draft Michelle Obama for Vice-President campaign committee that’s been formed. The committee noted Obama’s honorable reputation and her status as the most admired woman in America as qualities that would make her an ideal VP.

It’s Nice To Dream

Considering that the Democrats originally put forth about two dozen candidates for President, it’s astonishing that they couldn’t find one they felt was truly worth embracing.

It’s almost as if Biden was viewed like the last banana from the week’s supply. Not all that appealing, but by default, the best of the bunch.

There’s just one noteworthy issue with this plan to try and draft Michelle Obama for a run at the Presidency.

She continues to emphasize how she wants nothing to do with the political life, maintaining a steadfast avowal that she’ll never run for office.

Michelle Obama for President is a bet that just isn’t worth making.
