  • The Mueller Report has been filed and offers no charges of collusion with Russia against President Donald Trump
  • Trump is glowing, insisting that he’s been exonerated
  • His odds of winning the 2020 presidential election have improved since the report dropped

The Mueller Report is in and Donald Trump is not in shackles, headed for a Federal prison. He’s equating this to exoneration that he didn’t collude with Russia to rig the 2016 presidential election.

The oddsmakers see this as a boon to Trump’s 2020 re-election hopes. The average odds across the top sportsbooks of Trump retaining the Presidency in 2020 have improved. He’s gone from +110 to +100 since the Mueller Report was filed. You can visit our 2020 US Presidential Odds Tracker to see how the odds have shifted for all top contenders.

Trump Goes on the Attack

Now that in his mind he’s in the clear, Trump is weaponizing the Mueller Report’s findings. He’s utilizing it as an opportunity to go after those who’ve criticized him. Trump is targeting people in the Democratic Party and the media that have come after him. He appears to be plotting his own counteroffensive in a bid to discredit them.

Trump supporters have been quick to jump on the bandwagon. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders even posted an NCAA Tournament-style Trump haters bracket on her official Twitter feed. She labeled it Mueller Madness.

Trump has floated the idea of launching a counter investigation as a vendetta against those he perceives as his enemies. Some of Trump’s advisors are quietly worried that he might go too far and ultimately offend undecided voters.

They’re also concerned that he’ll keep the focus on this issue. Their belief is the Republicans should be moving forward with policy plans. They need to put the attention on the accomplishments of the Trump Administration.

Does Mueller’s Report Really Matter?

Those entrenched on one side or the other of this political divide weren’t going to be swayed. The hard-core base on both sides wasn’t changing their mind no matter what the Mueller Report revealed.

Trump’s ardent supporters would continue to back him, and the resistance against him wasn’t about to secede and admit defeat.

In fact, they haven’t.

But how will this all play out with the masses of undecided voters, who’ve yet to make up their mind about who they’ll support for President in 2020? That’s the real question here.

Democrats could end up making the same mistake as Trump. They need to stop focusing on this issue and put attention on matters more vital to the electorate.

If they follow that strategy, expect the Trump train to stay on track for re-election in 2020.
