Bayern Poised for Greatness Again
The departure of Lewandowski will certainly leave a sour taste in Bayern’s mouth. After all, he’s a player who scored 35+ goals per season on the regular. But, they did manage to bring in quite the replacement in ex-Liverpool striker Sadio Mane. The Senegalese already made his presence felt in the German Super Cup, scoring his first goal for the side in the 5-3 victory over Leipzig.

Aside from signing Mane, the Bavarian giants also won the race for Juventus center-back Matthijs de Ligt, who is one of the best defenders in Europe. A back two pairing of de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano easily gives Julian Nagelsmann’s group the best backline in Germany plus Alphonso Davies and Benjamin Pavard patrolling the flanks. Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala have also shown their quality early on as well in the final third. This squad is stacked from top to bottom and it’s really no surprise they’re tipped to win yet another Bundesliga trophy.
Is Dortmund in the Mix in Bundesliga Futures?
It’s been the same story for Dortmund year after year: Finishing behind Bayern. Even with Erling Haaland bagging goals at a ridiculous rate, they just couldn’t beat out their rivals. Now, the Norwegian star is gone to Manchester City, leaving quite the void. BVB did sign Salzburg youngster Karim Adeyemi and Sebastien Haller to make up for the loss, but the latter will be out until the new year after being diagnosed with a cancerous tumor.
Dortmund confirm Sébastien Haller's testicular tumor has been diagnosed as malignant and he will be absent for several months as he undergoes chemotherapy.

The addition of former Bayern defender Niklas Sule should help at the back, but it’s truly hard to imagine Dortmund contending for the title without a true lethal finisher. Haller did previously have success at Frankfurt but as mentioned, he’s set to miss nearly half of the campaign. That’s a significant blow. Jude Bellingham is the key and he needs to have another solid campaign in the engine room.
Leipzig Has a Promising Side
Leipzig showed their potential in the Super Cup against Bayern, coming back from three goals down at one point. While all of these clubs are still getting into game shape, Die Roten Bullen is a side that should keep some pressure on Bayern all season long after finishing in fourth place in 2021-22.
Official: Christopher Nkunku has been voted Germany's footballer of the year by Kicker among the members of the Association of German sports journalists

Christopher Nkunku is the difference-maker here. The Frenchman was absolutely clinical last term, netting 20 times and supplying 13 assists for Leipzig which earned him a call-up to Les Bleus for the first time. He’s one of the most versatile attackers in the top flight and is a threat to do damage every time the ball touches his feet.
There are rumors swirling that Leipzig could reunite with Timo Werner on loan as he continues to fall out of favor at Chelsea. That would give another boost to the squad up top. Andre Silva also struggled to find his form last season but if he can bounce back and show what he did at Frankfurt before making the switch to Red Bull Arena, Leipzig will be in good shape.
Leverkusen Worth a Look
Bayer Leverkusen secured third spot a year ago and made two very important moves this summer by extending both Patrik Schick and Florian Wirtz. While the latter is recovering from a knee injury, Schick lit the Bundesliga on fire last term, finishing with 24 goals in just 26 appearances.
🏆 The German Cup, they say, has its own rules.

The Czech Republic international is playing the best football of his life and will feel confident after committing his future to the club. Leverkusen has basically brought back their entire squad and their exciting, attacking style of play should be a treat to watch. Losing in the opening round of the DFB-Pokal to a third-tier side isn’t a great start, though.
Bundesliga Futures Best Bets
I honestly have zero doubts that Bayern will lift the Bundesliga title for the 11th time in a row. No one in Germany has the quality and depth to actually threaten them. As for the top four in Bundesliga futures, I’m liking Dortmund, Leverkusen, and Leipzig to round it out.
Title pick: Bayern to win Bundesliga (-500)
