While coronavirus still continues to affect football across Europe, the German Bundesliga was the first league to resume action over the weekend. Some of the brightest youngsters in the world play in Germany, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, who is developing at an extremely quick rate for a 20-year old. He’s the youngest player ever to score 30 goals in Bundesliga history after bagging two headers on Monday against Werder Bremen.

Thanks to his impressive form over the last two seasons for Peter Bosz’s side, Havertz has eyes on him from all over the continent, including numerous European giants such as Bayern Munich and Liverpool. He’s been heavily linked with a move to Anfield all year long, but with the pandemic expected to severely affect the transfer market, the chances of any huge signings happening are unlikely. The German international is currently valued at anywhere from 90 to 107 million euros, which is a hefty price for any club.

Kai Havertz Transfer Odds

Team By September 1 Odds
Bayern Munich +400
Liverpool +500
Manchester City +1400
PSG +1600

Real Madrid +2000
Borussia Dortmund +2500
Manchester United +2500

Chelsea +3300

Odds taken May 19

Bayern is the favorite to sign Havertz with +400 odds before September 1st, followed by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at just +500.

Big Clubs Vying for His Services

Havertz broke onto the scene last season with Leverkusen, scoring a remarkable 20 goals as a 19-year old. He’s a very mature player for his age, possessing tremendous abilities in the final third, whether it’s scoring goals or threading a pass to a teammate. The attacking midfielder is clearly his club’s most prized asset right now, evident by his price tag.

After such a long period away from the game because of the pandemic, his form against Bremen will only excite his potential suitors even more with the summer transfer window quickly approaching. Bayern has been closely watching Havertz for quite some time and could be a great fit for him as he continues to develop into one of the game’s brightest young talents.

Liverpool has also shown serious interest in the Leverkusen standout, with Klopp being a huge admirer of his fellow countrymen. However, the Reds have made it clear that Leipzig marksman Timo Werner is their number one target right now. It simply isn’t possible from a money standpoint to sign both of these players this summer.

Chelsea is one of the latest clubs to enter the race for Havertz and with them receiving close to 50 million from Atletico for Alvaro Morata, they could have the necessary funds to make a move for Havertz. Their attacking line has immensely struggled to consistently find the back of the net this term, so he could be the answer for the Blues.

Best Bet

Personally, I see Havertz staying put this summer because many wealthy clubs won’t have the money for him due to Coronavirus. If the pandemic wasn’t happening, I don’t think there would be any doubt that one of the big teams would fork out the money for such a top player like Havertz. However, every side across the globe is struggling financially.

He’s still such a young player and although he’s improving every single year, it wouldn’t hurt to stay with Leverkusen for one more season. Peter Bosz is a fantastic coach and mentor for Havertz and they’re currently fighting for a Champions League spot in Germany’s top flight.

Nevertheless, if I had to pick a team for Havertz to sign with before September 1st, I would predict that Liverpool would snatch the youngster up given their consistent interest in him since last summer. But that’s only if they don’t secure the signature of Timo Werner.

Pick: Liverpool +500
