Manchester City travel to Bavaria this week with a place in the semifinals of the Champions League all but guaranteed. Pep Guardiola saw his City team dispatch his former club 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium last week, leaving the defending Premier League champions as -5000 favorites to progress in the latest Champions League odds.
After the first leg, City thumped Leicester on Saturday night, and Bayern were dealt another disappointment with a home draw against Hoffenheim. Enduring such a poor result at the Etihad led to a dispute between Bayern players, with Sadio Mane punching teammate Leroy Sane. It is unclear if Mane will be involved here as a result. Rumors continue to swirl that Bayern are trying to sell the Senegalese forward.

Despite a lop-sided first leg, bookies can’t choose between the teams for the second leg in the Bayern Munich vs Manchester City odds. City completely controlled the first leg of this tie. Bayern had more possession, but the Premier League outfit had by far the better chances and were well-deserving of their 3-0 victory. Dayot Upamecano was at the center of Bayern’s implosion in the second half, and will surely be left out here, though it was more of a team-wide issue than just being down to the Frenchman’s errors.

Bayern’s midfield could not cope with City’s press and quick ball movement. While quiet for periods, Erling Haaland was a difficult matchup for the Bayern back line. Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva led an immense midfield performance, and John Stones’ exceptional form has continued, including a stunning strike against Leicester at the weekend.
Thomas Tuchel has a great record against Guardiola over the years, but Tuchel is forced to change his approach for the second leg. Bayern have no choice but to be ultra-attacking from the first whistle, which will inevitably leave space for Haaland to exploit.
City are not going to park the bus, yet we know they can dictate matches by retaining possession for long periods, which will inevitably frustrate this Bayern side.

This tie is over. Bayern have made some big Champions League comebacks, but this City team is far too formidable to lose a three-goal advantage. Chemistry issues and poor form suggest the Bavarian superclub could be in for another defeat here, particularly if they throw men forward chasing goals.
Bayern have enough attacking talent to at least get on the score sheet. After all, they did create a few opportunities in Manchester last week.
City should also score at least once given how Bayern defended in the first leg. Their attack has been phenomenal of late, and Erling Haaland is once again in irresistible form. The Norwegian has had 24 shots in his last five matches across all competitions.
