Dortmund vs Sevilla Preview

The German giants are not short on confidence at the moment. The 4-1 thrashing of Sevilla was huge for this side, especially because they were missing a plethora of regulars in their squad. That didn’t seem to matter though as Dortmund ran riot on the La Liga outfit, with Raphael Guerreiro, Jude Bellingham, Karim Adeyemi, and Julian Brandt all finding the back of the net.

Edin Terzic’s men then followed up the win with a 2-2 draw in the Der Klassiker on Sunday against Bayern on home soil, with veteran frontman Anthony Modeste heading home a last-gasp equalizer. BVB is now square on points with Munich in the Bundesliga and also sits in second in UCL Group G, just three points behind first-place Manchester City. But, their Champions League odds sit at a long +7500.

Sevilla is in utter shambles across the board. They’ve only got one point in Europe and have scored a mere one goal in the Champions League. After the crushing defeat to Dortmund, the club made a major change in the dugout too, sacking long-time manager Julen Lopetegui and hiring former boss Jorge Sampaoli.

His tenure at Sevilla got off to a respectable start as the squad played to a 1-1 draw with third-place Athletic over the weekend in league action. Oliver Torres produced the goods with an early first-half goal before the visitors equalized in the 73rd minute. Rojiblancos now sit in 18th place in La Liga though, which is just frankly unacceptable for a team who is typically a regular in the UCL and/or Europa.

Dortmund vs Sevilla Team Lineups and Injuries

Dortmund Projected Lineup: Meyer; Wolf, Sule, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro; Can, Ozcan; Adeyemi, Bellingham, Brandt; Modeste

Injuries & Absences: Haller, Dahoud, Reus, Unbehaun, Bauza

Sevilla Projected Lineup: Bounou; Montiel, Nianzou, Marcao, Telles; Delaney, Gudelj; Lamela, Isco, Gomez; Dolberg

Injuries & Absences: Rekik, Tecatito, Torres

Dortmund vs Sevilla Prediction

When a new manager comes in, it usually rejuvenates the side. From Isco to Erik Lamela to Ivan Rakitic, Sevilla possesses quality. But, Dortmund is playing solid football as of late and has only lost one of their last nine games at Signal Iduna against a Spanish opposition. With the moneyline rather steep, I’m liking BVB to win and both teams to score.

Pick: Dortmund to win & both teams to score (+225)
