Premier League matchday 13 brings a historic rivalry on Sunday, November 28th as in-form Chelsea welcomes Manchester United to Stamford Bridge. The kick-off is scheduled for 11:30pm ET.

The Blues are currently three points clear at the top of the table and absolutely dismantled Leicester City last weekend in a 3-0 victory, then destroyed Juventus by four goals in Europe on Tuesday.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford and quickly sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the following day. United did collect the full three points mid-week in the Champions League though, in a 2-0 win over Villarreal under caretaker manager Michael Carrick.

Both meetings between the two English giants in 2020-21 ended in scoreless draws.

Chelsea Flying High

Thomas Tuchel’s side has undoubtedly looked like the cream of the crop in the Premier League this term and is proving to be serious title contenders. Chelsea is currently riding a 10-match unbeaten run across all competitions, dropping just two points during that span.

To put it into perspective, their only loss in league play was against Manchester City in September and a slim 1-0 defeat to Juventus that same week in UCL action.

In fact, during this current run of form, the Blues have conceded a mere three goals while netting a mind-boggling 28 times.

Chelsea was ruthless on Tuesday at the Bridge, hitting four past Juve and securing their spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League as Group H winners. As for their fantastic result at Leicester on matchday 12, it was another breathtaking performance.

Tuchel’s men ran riot on the Foxes, quickly getting on the scoresheet within the first 15 minutes when Antonio Rudiger fired home a thumping header off a corner kick.

Not long after, N’Golo Kante made an ambitious solo run through the midfield then made his former club pay with a world-class strike. Christian Pulisic ultimately sealed the deal late in the second half with a fine finish from a neat Hakim Ziyech pass.

The Blues do have a few injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s clash, though. Kante is doubtful with a knee injury, while Ben Chilwell is out indefinitely with an ACL injury. Matteo Kovacic remains sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Romelu Lukaku should feature as a substitute however as he continues to get back to full strength following a month-long absence.

United Need a Result

The Red Devils are in shambles, sitting eighth in the table, a whole 12 points off first-place Chelsea. They’ve lost three of their last four league games, but better times could be ahead.

The club just hired German tactician Ralf Rangnick to take over at Old Trafford, a manager with loads of experience who is known for his attacking style of football. He won’t be in Manchester until next week though, which means Carrick will remain in charge this weekend.

Wednesday was definitely a step in the right direction for United, putting together a solid showing against Villarreal. In the process, the side secured their place in the UCL Round of 16. Cristiano Ronaldo found his form as he bagged the winner in the 78th minute followed by Jadon Sancho’s first goal in a Red Devils jersey in injury time.

Sunday will be an extremely tough task considering the way Chelsea is playing, but history is on Man United’s side. They’ve won three of their last four visits to Stamford Bridge and have kept a clean sheet in four straight against the current league leaders.

Their backline will be depleted, however, with Harry Maguire serving a suspension after being sent off last weekend vs. Watford. His center-back partner, Raphael Varane, is also still sidelined due to injury, while Luke Shaw is a game-time decision.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Prediction

Although Manchester United has enjoyed more success in this encounter across the last few seasons, it’s extremely hard to bet against Chelsea, who are easily the most in-form side in Europe right now.

The Red Devils are also missing far too many integral players, especially defensively. The Blues will turn around their fortunes against United and keep Ronaldo and Co at bay in the final third.
