Matchday 2 of the World Cup officially started on Friday and in Group B, we have a compelling fixture between England and the USA at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar. The kick-off is scheduled for 2 PM ET. It’s the first competitive meeting between the two sides since the 2010 tournament in South Africa, playing to a 1-1 draw. Keep reading for the England vs USA odds.

The Three Lions aren’t short on confidence at the moment, destroying Iran 6-2 in their first game. The States showed well in the first half and scored an early opener courtesy of Timothy Weah, but let down in the final 45 and settled for a 1-1 stalemate after Gareth Bale equalized from the penalty spot.

The Brits are a heavy -180 favorite for this encounter, while the States come back at steep World Cup odds of +500. Given the experience of England and the youth of the Americans, no one is giving Gregg Berhalter’s men much of a chance.

Over/Under and Spread

The total is set at 2.5 goals with the over sitting at -120. The under isn’t far off that at -102.

England vs USA Preview

Gareth Southgate’s side was in very poor form ahead of Monday’s statement win over the Iranians, going winless in six outings. But, England broke out in a big way, putting together a terrific attacking display. It was the brilliance of the young guns here as Jude Bellingham scored a 35th-minute opener with a beautiful header.

Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling found the back of the net before the halftime whistle too, putting the Three Lions three goals to the good. In total, five different players put their names on the scoresheet, led by Saka’s brace. Harry Kane played the part of the provider, tallying two assists. He suffered an ankle injury in the process but is expected to suit up come Friday.

The Americans came out firing on all cylinders against Wales, putting on immense pressure early on. Their breakthrough ultimately came in the 36th minute when Christian Pulisic slipped a through ball to Weah, who clinically put the ball past Welsh keeper Wayne Hennessey.

But, Berhalter’s group completely took their foot off the gas pedal in the second period. They frankly looked like a completely different team, with Walker Zimmerman’s foolish tackle in the box providing Bale with the chance to even things up, and that he did. The US cannot be lackadaisical versus England because this side has a lot more weapons in the final third that can hurt you.

England vs USA Prediction

A 2018 friendly ended 3-0 in favor of the English, but I don’t think it’ll be that one-sided here. That being said, the Three Lions seriously impressed earlier in the week. The Americans are young and inexperienced and shouldn’t pose a threat. Take the hosts to collect the full points. The -180 odds aren’t the prettiest number, so also put some money down on an England win and both teams to score. After all, Southgate’s men conceded twice to Iran.

Pick: England moneyline (-180), England to win & both teams to score (+220)
