Unless you’re a Chelsea (19-3-3, 60 points) fan, the title race this season has been pretty disappointing. Every time it looked as if a team might finally challenge the Blues, they either lose a decisive game or choke against one of the smaller clubs. It’s extremely frustrating to admit but, with Chelsea holding an eight-point lead at the top of the table, the title race is almost over.

This season has seen a rotating cast of title chasers. First, Liverpool (14-7-4, 49 points) looked as if they might break their quarter-century drought and finally win the league. But when Liverpool crash, they crash spectacularly, and they now sit in fifth place with just one win in their last six games.

Then Arsenal (15-5-5, 50 points) made a push, but as we’ve come to expect from the Gunners, the New Year put an end to their form and now they sit in their well-worn fourth place.

Tottenham (14-8-3, 50 points) have had a pretty steady season, and unlike the other contenders, they haven’t dropped too many points by choking against the smaller clubs. But they haven’t performed well against the other clubs in the top five, aside from one win against Chelsea.

Currently, Manchester City (16-4-5, 52 points) are the biggest threat to Chelsea’s title run. Pep Guardiola’s boys have been underperforming all season but somehow find themselves in second place. With all the other title contenders falling short, it’s up to the Citizens to keep the title race competitive.

It’s more fun to rag on the high-spending, underperforming traditional powers, but you also have to give credit where it’s due: Chelsea have been remarkably consistent this season and already have most of their big games behind them. Apart from games against Manchester United and Manchester City, the Blues have a pretty smooth run from here on out. Even if they suffer a few mishaps, there aren’t too many chances for the title chasers to make up ground.

On top of that, Chelsea do not have any obligations outside of the Premier League. While the other teams have to worry about the Champions League and the Europa League, Chelsea can focus solely on winning the EPL. It’s hard to see them botching this one.

Odds to win 2016-17 English Premier League:

Chelsea: 1/3

Manchester City: 23/2

Tottenham: 33/1

Liverpool: 40/1

Arsenal: 50/1
