All odds taken June 8

Pick 1: Sevilla vs Real Betis

It’s difficult to imagine a better return to action in Spain than the Seville derby, pitting Lopetegui’s Sevilla (13-8-6) against Real Betis (8-9-10).

A strong run-in prior to the COVID break has left Sevilla right in the mix for third place and direct UEFA Champions League qualification, while Betis is plodding along — safely mid-table — in 12th.

Four of the last five Sevilla derbies have hit the ‘Over’, including a 2-1 win for Lopetegui’s win earlier this year at the Benito Villamarin; betting on a result after such a long lay-off is risky, but Sevilla have certainly had an edge this season.

PICK: Sevilla (-116)

Pick 2: Valencia vs Levante

Friday’s must-watch match pits Valencia (11-9-7) against Levante (10-3-14) at La Mestalla.

Both squads plodded into the COVID break, with Albert Celades’ Valencia winning just once in their last five matches and Paco Lopez’s Levante with just one win in their last four outings.

We’ve seen talent gaps narrowed coming out of COVID in other European domestic leagues (i.e. Portugal), and it is possible that Levante could snag a result — though they have not won at La Mestalla in over 14 years, as per the Fussball Datenbank.

The gloves usually come off early and often in this derby: The last four league meetings between the two have resulted in 18 total goals (4.5/match).

PICK: O 3 (+101)

Pick 3: Real Madrid vs Eibar

Trailing Barcelona by two points in the title race, there is no room for error at Real Madrid (16-8-3) — most definitely not at home against a relegation battle outfit like Eibar (7-6-14) on Sunday.

Zizou’s Blancos coughed up pole position in the weeks leading up to the COVID break, with dropped points against Vigo (2-2), Levante (0-1) and Real Betis (1-2) nullifying an electric 2-0 win in El Clasico.

Eibar have simply struggled, slipping ever closer to the relegation zone with losses in four of their last five. Mendilibar’s group also lost the reverse fixture by a 4-0 scoreline in November — at home, no less.

PICK: O 3, 3.5 (+101)
