Group C leaders Man City take on Shakhtar Donetsk on Matchday 5 on Tuesday, November 26, at 3:00 pm EST. The Premier League giants currently have ten points, winning three times and drawing once on Matchday 4 against Atalanta. Shakhtar has won and lost once, while also drawing twice. They’re currently tied with Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb with five points in Group C for the second spot.
No team in this group poses a threat to Manchester City, so by no surprise, Pep Guardiola’s side enters next week’s home clash as obvious favorites at -588.

City Unmatched in Group C
Manchester City doesn’t really have any team in this group that can beat them, even though they tied Atalanta on Matchday 4. They were two players short at one point though and Kyle Walker had to play in net for the last ten minutes of the match after Claudio Bravo was given a straight red.
They have scored 11 goals in just four matches and will look to bag a whole lot more next week against Shakhtar. Raheem Sterling has been lethal in European competition, bagging five goals and two assists through four matches so far.

Domestically, their chances of winning a third consecutive Premier League title are looking slim after losing to Liverpool in their last match 3-1, putting them nine points behind the current PL leaders. City currently sits in third place in England as they prepare to take on second-place Chelsea this weekend at home, who they trail by just one point.
Donetsk Dominating Ukraine
Shakhtar Donetsk has been unstoppable in the Ukrainian Premier League this season, currently in first place with 13 victories and just one draw. They have yet to lose in domestic competition. Donetsk has also scored a whopping 40 goals in just 14 matches in Ukraine.

In Group C, they do have a legitimate chance of advancing to the round of 16 along with Man City if they get positive results in their last two matches. It’s going to be extremely difficult for them to beat City at home, but if they can somehow get a draw, it’s really going to help their chances of finishing in second spot. Donetsk will be hoping their in-form Ukrainian striker Moraes can add to his 13 goals in just 17 appearances this season across all competitions, including two tallies in UCL play.
Man City vs Shakhtar Donetsk Stats
3-1-0 (1st in Group C) | UCL Record | 1-2-1 (2nd in Group C) |
8-1-3 | Domestic Record | 13-1-0 |
11 | Goals Scored in UCL play | 7 |
2 | Goals Conceded in UCL play | 9 |
City Are Too Much for Shakhtar Donetsk
Despite Donetsk’s breathtaking form in Ukraine, Man City is just too talented in every aspect. The English side buried them convincingly on the road 3-0, so taking into consideration that Guardiola’s squad is now at home for this clash, it should be a goal-scoring frenzy in favor of the current Premier League title-holders.
Pick: Man City -588
