MLS Predictions for Matchday 30

Read on for our top MLS picks today for all 14 matches this weekend.

NYCFC vs Vancouver Whitecaps Prediction

New York got the win on Wednesday, 2-0 at home over Montreal but that was just their first win in six in MLS and second in MLS in 18.

New York have only beaten teams from Canada oddly enough in their past 22 games in all competitions, beating Montreal twice in MLS and Toronto in the Leagues Cup. Perhaps Vancouver is next on the list. But New York have drawn 7/12 recent games in MLS and Vancouver have been in good form in MLS winning four of their past five. Including back-to-back road wins over Portland (3-2) and Chicago (1-0).

  • MLS Predictions: Draw (+260); Bet365

CF Montreal vs Columbus Crew Prediction

Montreal at home? Great. Their 9-0-3 home record and 27 points are fourth in the East. They’ve outscored their opponents 18-5. Montreal on the road? Poor. Very poor. Their 2-2-10 with just eight points and have been outscored 31-8.

They were on the road Wednesday where they lost 2-0 to New York. They were home the match prior and beat New England 1-0.

Columbus games feature some of the most goals in the league at 3.3. Going into Wednesday’s game in Houston they had only failed to score twice in 31 games in 2023 and had scored multiple goals in each of their past six. However, they were blanked 2-0. The past two games had been 2-0 wins over Cincinnati and Toronto. They too struggle on the road at 2-3-7.

These teams drew 2-2 last season and Montreal won 2-1. That makes it 5/6 and 8/11 where bets on both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals has hit.

But bets on both teams scoring are just 1-10 in the last 11 for Montreal and 4-22 on the season. This could be close and low-scoring like most Montreal games this season at home.

  • MLS Predictions: under 2.5 (+120); Bet365

DC United vs Chicago Fire Prediction

It was a 0-0 draw in April when DC and Chicago last played making the Fire 2-2-1 in the past five meetings. A road team has only won once in the past 12 meetings and twice in the past 17.

The Fire have lost all three games since the Leagues Cup and when you include the tournament they’ve lost five straight and have scored just twice in that time.

DC has only played twice since the tournament, losing both and also losing twice in the Leagues Cup. So they too have been poor going winless in four and have scored only one goal in those four.

I can’t split these teams so let’s back the draw in our MLS picks today.

  • MLS Predictions: Draw (+275); Bet365

FC Cincinnati vs Orlando City SC Prediction

With a win in Atlanta on Wednesday, FC Cincinnati has clinched a playoff spot and continue on their path to winning the Supporters’ Shield and setting the record for all-time regular season points.

Way back in March Cincy and Orlando split the points in a 0-0 draw in Orlando.

But Cincinnati is still unbeaten at home this season in MLS at 12-1-0 outscoring opponents 27-8. They’re also undefeated in regulation at home in all comps in 19 games and have scored at home in 36 straight games in all comps as well.

  • MLS Predictions: Cincinnati to Win (-125); Bet365

New England Revolution vs Austin FC Prediction

The Revs are 10-3-0, also undefeated at home and have scored 30 and allowed 10 at Gillette Stadium. New England has won each of their past six at home outscoring opponents 15-4.

Home or away and no matter the competition Austin are in poor form. They lost 3-1 twice in Leagues Cup, and their return to MLS has seen them lose 6-3, 1-0 and 2-1 in recent weeks.

Their defense is obviously leaky and especially so away from home where they’ve allowed 28 goals which is the second most away goals conceded in the entire league.

  • MLS Predictions: New England to Win (-134); Bet365

FC Dallas vs Atlanta United Prediction

Dallas’ two games since Leagues Cup were a 1-0 win over Austin and 2-1 loss to St. Louis.

Atlanta have scored in 8/9 and since Leagues Cup won 2-0 in Seattle, won 4-0 at home to Nashville and lost 2-1 to Cincinnati.

Only Columbus and St. Louis have scored more goals than’s Atlanta’s 49 this season.

But at home, in all competitions, Dallas have scored in 13/15 in 2023.

  • MLS Predictions: Both Teams to Score (-163); Bet365

Nashville SC vs Charlotte FC Prediction

Charlotte and Portland own the worst defensive records in MLS having allowed 42 goals.

The Crown were strong in Leagues Cup winning four games before going out to Miami. Since, they won 2-1 over LAFC and drew 1-1 to Orlando on Wednesday.

The Yotes also saw their Leagues Cup hopes ended by Miami and came out of the tournament with a 4-0 loss in Atlanta before exacting some form of mild revenge over the Herons drawing 0-0 at DRV PNK on Wednesday.

There’s just two previous meetings between these sides with Charlotte winning 4-1 at home last season and Nashville winning on the road 2-1 this season back in May.

I’ll give the edge to Nashville again in my MLS picks as they’re 8-2-2 at home and have outscored opponents 21-8.

  • MLS Predictions: Nashville to Win (-138); Bet365

Sporting KC vs St. Louis City SC Prediction

This new MLS rivalry is currently being led by St. Louis who took the first-ever meeting 4-0 back in May at home. Now the venue switches to Kansas City in what is surely to be an electric atmosphere at Children’s Mercy Park.

Since Leagues Cup, St. Louis won 6-3, lost 2-1 and won 2-1. That makes bets on Over 2.5 10-2 in their past 12.

For SKC, since getting knocked out of the tournament on August 4, they’ve played one game and it was last weekend, beating San Jose 3-0. They were off midweek and should be rested and focused for this one.

I can see both teams scoring and the Over hitting or SKC taking their revenge with a home win. Or, SKC to score at least two goals.

  • MLS Predictions: Sporting KC Over 1.5 Goals (-138); Bet365

Real Salt Lake vs Colorado Rapids Prediction

The Rocky Mountain Cup rivalry heads to Salt Lake with RSL sixth in the West and Colorado 14th.

RSL had been the hottest team in the league, but have now lost four straight overall and are struggling without the injured Pablo Ruiz. They lost to the struggling Portland Timbers 2-1 on Wednesday.

The Rapids have struggled all season and have just one win from any competition in their past 17. Their last two games, also on the road, were 3-0 and 4-0 losses.

Salt Lake took a 3-2 road win in MLS play back in May, and also won on the road again in the US Open Cup just days later 1-0. That makes RSL an undefeated 3-2-0 versus the Rapids in their past five. Take out that USOC game, and in MLS, bets on both teams scoring is 5-0, while both scoring and over is 4-1 in their past five.

This looks like a get-right spot for RSL.

  • MLS Predictions: Real Salt Lake to Win (-163); Bet365

LA Galaxy vs Houston Dynamo Prediction

The Galaxy have only one loss in ten games in MLS and are being carried to a potential albeit unlikely playoff chase by Riqui Puig who’s scored in each of his last three games. The Galaxy overall have scored multiple goals in eight of those ten MLS games.

But Houston are rolling too with wins in 6/7 in all comps and have won 5-0, 3-0 and 2-0 in their last three league games. Despite a poor road record of 2-3-8, that 3-0 win did come away from home in Salt Lake.

Houston won 3-0 at home back in April, marking the fourth straight time someone in this head-to-head have scored three goals. There’s not been fewer than two goals in any of the past 13 meetings.

Both teams are in good form here so I see goals from both (-188). For better MLS odds you could add the Over 2.5 into your MLS Week 30 picks.

  • MLS Predictions: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 (-120); Bet365

San Jose Earthquakes vs Minnesota United Prediction

San Jose and Minnesota are neck-and-neck in the Western playoff picture, both tied on 35 points in 7/8th positions.

San Jose rarely loses at home at 7-4-2 but that second defeat came on Wednesday hosting the Galaxy (3-2) in the Cali Classico.

Minnesota are 2-1-0 in their past three after beating Colorado 3-0 on Wednesday and have scored in 12/13 games across all comps for a total of 28 goals in that time.

These teams haven’t played yet this season but last year both won at home, Minnesota 1-0 and San Jose 2-0.

  • MLS Predictions: Both Team to Score (-175); Bet365

Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers Prediction

It’s the third meeting between these Cascadia rivals this season with Portland winning at Providence Park 4-1 in April and the teams drawing 0-0 at Lumen Field in June.

For all of Seattle’s recent success and despite this being their biggest rival, the Sounders have struggled immensely versus the Timbers in recent years and specifically at home. Portland won both games last season and are 4-2-0 versus Seattle in the past six games. At home, Seattle hasn’t defeated their rivals since 2018, a stretch of seven games.

That could change here with Seattle coming in off a high winning 2-1 in Auston on Wednesday. Portland too are coming in off a win, 2-1 over RSL, but had lost 3-2 and 5-0 in their games prior and fired head coach Gio Savarese. The Timbers have just two wins in nine and three in 14.

  • MLS Predictions: Seattle to win (-150); Bet365

Philadelphia Union vs New York Red Bulls Prediction

This looks like a tight one. They played this season in MLS and Philadelphia won 1-0 in New York. They played again in the Leagues Cup in Philly and the teams drew 1-1, with the Union going on to win in penalties.

Philadelphia is now 8-3-0 in the past 11 meetings with New York. In those 11, the Under 2.5 is 9-2. The Under 2.5 is also cashing at a perfect 8-0 clip in the last eight.

  • MLS Predictions: Under 2.5 (-125); Bet365

LAFC vs Inter Miami Prediction

Last but certainly not least it’s what is clearly the game of the weekend as MLS Cup champs LAFC who are second in the West host Lionel Messi and Inter Miami who are trying to accomplish the near impossible and qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs.

After reeling off wins in nine-straight since Messi put on a pink jersey, winning the Leagues Cup, advancing to the US Open Cup Final and winning their first game back in MLS, Miami came down to Earth at least slightly on Wednesday, drawing 0-0 at home to Nashville. They’re playoff margins are razor thin with only ten games to go, ten points back of ninth and four other teams between them. So Miami can’t afford to not go all out here.

And that may create scoring chances for them, but it will also expose a defense that still has holes. Holes LAFC can likely exploit with Denis Bouanga and Carlos Vela. LAFC suffered a surprise 2-1 road defeat in Charlotte on Wednesday. Bets on Over 2.5 are now 6-1 in their past seven.

That 0-0 draw for Miami versus Nashville was the first time with Messi in the lineup that Miami failed to score and the first time that their game finished with fewer than at least two goals. Of the five road games Miami has played with this new-look roster, they’ve conceded in four of them. Only the goal-starved Red Bulls failed to get on the scoresheet.
