This week’s MLS schedule kicks off on Saturday at 1:30 pm EST between Nashville and Atlanta. It starts a full day of 12 matches in MLS Week 10, which features key clashes at both the top and bottom of the table. We’re breaking down the MLS Week 10 odds and making our top MLS predictions here.

This week’s standalone Sunday match features Minnesota United (3-2-3) hosting FC Dallas (4-2-3) at 9:00 pm EST.

Vancouver is coming off a bye last week. Philadelphia was already on a bye this week but are also in the middle of the CCL Semifinals with LAFC, and therefore the Houston vs LAFC match has been postponed as well.

Most of the league (18 teams) were also all playing in the US Open Cup Third Round during the midweek as well.

St Louis is sitting tops in the West and will play a rematch of their Week 3 match with Portland that saw them win 2-1 at Providence Park. This one will be at home, but it will be without leading scorer Joao Klauss who’s out 10-14 days on the MLS injury report with a knee injury.

Montreal finally got their second win last week and will face the league’s only winless team in SKC this weekend. Sporting are still winless at 0-3-6. Someone has to win, but I wouldn’t put my money on either of these teams for my MLS predictions.

MLS Predictions Week 10

Looking ahead to this weekend’s MLS picks and betting tips, we have three predictions for Week 10 below.

We were so close to a perfect record last week if not for a Columbus Crew stoppage time goal being called off by VAR.

Last Week’s Record: 2-1, +0.75 units

MLS Season Record: 14-15, -3.22 units

Toronto FC vs NYCFC Prediction

The long run of four straight Toronto draws finally came to an end last week when they got thumped 4-2 by the Philadelphia Union. That scoreline actually flatters TFC as it was 3-0 at halfime and 4-0 through 56 minutes after a Mikael Uhre hat-trick and an own goal. Toronto didn’t score until the 66′ and 92′ minutes. That leaves Toronto at 1-6-2 (WDL).

TFC did at least find the back of the net, something they’ve done in 7/9 games this season. At home they’re still undefeated at 1-3-0, scoring in all four games and scoring multiple goals in three of those four.

Lorenzo Insigne started last week and found the scoresheet. With he and Federico Bernardeschi up top TFC will always be in the running to score. TFC keeper Sean Johnson will also be getting his first start against his old team having been traded from New York in the offseason.

NYCFC had a much better fate last week jumping ahead 3-0 at home to Dallas and eventually winning 3-1. They’re fourth in the East at 4-3-2 and considered one of the contenders in the MLS Cup odds.  They’re also undefeated in four, while suffering just a single defeat in their past seven. New York’s two losses though have both come on the road and have both seen them fail to score. They’re also winless in four away matches at 0-2-2. But on the season overall, New York has scored in 7/9, however, they’ve also conceded in 8/9.

It’s been just over a year since these teams have played and it was a 5-4 home win for New York last April. The past four scorelines have read 5-4, 2-1, 2-2 and 1-1.

I’ll bet on another game with goals from both sides for my TFC vs NYCFC picks.

  • MLS Predictions: Both teams to score (-134), risk 1 unit at Bet365

Columbus Crew vs Inter Miami Prediction

The losses keep piling up for Miami. They came off a bye and last week went into Houston and despite playing a better game than in weeks past, still failed to scored and allowed a late goal in the 72′ minute to lose 1-0 in Houston.

On the road, the Herons have lost all four games. While they’ve only allowed five goals in those losses, they’ve scored exactly zero themselves. Those road losses have read 1-0, 2-0, 1-0 and 1-0. So the losses are at least close and their road xGA isn’t actually that bad at 4.4, the third-best in the East.

But going into Columbus will be a tough spot to come away from with points. The Crew are coming off a 1-0 loss in Charlotte, although they nearly drew level in stoppage time if not for VAR overturning the goal. They drew 1-1 the week prior, so will no doubt be looking to get back on track against a struggling Miami team.

The Crew have yet to lose at home this season at 3-1-0, while outscoring their opponents 13-2. But going back into last season Columbus has made Lower.com Field a sort of fortress with no losses in ten, one loss in 15 and just five losses in 28 home games.

Cucho Hernandez saw some time in the US Open Cup this week as he returned from injury. If he also sees time this weekend that instantly makes the Crew attack that is second in scoring even more dangerous. I’m backing a Crew win in my MLS predictions.

  • MLS Predictions: Columbus win (-150), risk 1 unit at Bet365

DC United vs Charlotte FC Prediction

With a 1-0 win in the US Open Cup over the Richmond Kickers this week, DC has now won three straight, having won 3-1 and 1-0 in their past two MLS games.

DC league home games this season have seen goals coming from both sides in 3/4. Those scores have been 3-2 (W), 1-1, 2-1 (L) and 2-0 (L).

Charlotte defeated Tormenta 4-1 in the US Open in midweek play. That marks the seventh straigth game where they’ve scored this season. They’ve also allowed a goal in six of those seven and in nine of ten of their matches in 2023 so far. Add in the fact that the Crew had a questionable goal wiped off last week from VAR giving Charlotte the 1-0 win, and the Crown have nearly conceded in every game this calendar year. Their ability to score goals though has seen them with just one loss in six MLS games and one in seven overall.

A bet on both teams to score in Charlotte games is 6-3 this season. It’s only 5-4 in DC games but they’ve conceded in 7/9.

Both teams rank near the bottom of the East in xGA, with DC ranking 13th and Charlotte 14th.

Neither teams has proved capable defensively thus far and with the likes of Christian Benteke (4 goals) for DC, plus four players who have scored multiple goals for Charlotte, I can see goals from both teams for my MLS picks here.
