Seattle Sounders vs Al Ahly Preview
Seattle qualified for this tournament after becoming the first team from the MLS to win the CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) when beating Mexico’s Pumas UNAM 5-2 in the two-legged final in April and May of last year.
It was a mixed campaign for the Sounders though as, despite winning the continent’s biggest prize in club soccer, they missed out on qualifying for the MLS Cup playoffs for the first time in their history.

Overall the Seattle franchise is one with a rich history with two MLS titles on their honors board and have been runners-up twice. By winning the CCL, they completed the set of major trophies.
The Sounders will be the first MLS team to play in the Club World Cup, with Los Angeles Galaxy qualifying for the 2001 tournament but not competing due to it being canceled.

Al Ahly on a Roll
Al Ahly qualified for the competition by being runners-up in the CAF Champions League and were allocated the host nation berth after Wydad Casablanca qualified automatically by winning the CAF CL. To qualify for this second-round tie, Al Ahly beat Auckland City 3-0 on Wednesday in round 1.
In addition to having qualified for the second round of this competition, they also currently lead the Egyptian Premier League with an 11-4-0 record. This is the third successive season that they have qualified for the World Club Cup – their eighth appearance in total – and they have been winners of the CAF Champions League a record-breaking 10 times.

Since the turn of the year, they have conceded just once and the last time they experienced defeat was back in May when they lost the CAF Champions League Final final to Wydad.

Seattle Sounders vs Al Ahly Prediction
The Sounders may start as narrow favorites but it’s Al Ahly who comes into this in superb form. With the MLS season not starting until later this month, Seattle may be a little rusty and short of match fitness.
On that basis, and taking into account home-country advantage, there is value in the +175 on offer for the Al Ahly win.
Picks: Al Ahly to win (+175) / Over 2.5 goals (+110)
