Tottenham vs AC Milan Preview

Despite Tottenham’s poor play as of late, they will need to get their act together very quickly for Wednesday’s match on home soil or else it’ll be another early exit. Spurs were last in the Champions League in 2019-20 and bowed out at this stage to Leipzig, losing 4-0 across two legs.

Antonio Conte’s men remain in a UCL spot in the Premier League, but they’ve looked distraught ever since a 2-0 victory over Chelsea on February 26th. Tottenham was eliminated from the FA Cup by Championship side Sheffield United on the 1st of March before another defeat to Wolves on Saturday. The Lilywhites failed to score in both games as well, conceding twice in the process.

On a more positive note, Spurs are enjoying a three-game winning run at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, beating Man City, West Ham, and Chelsea during that span and keeping clean sheets in all of those appearances.

Milan is on the verge of advancing to the UCL quarterfinals for the first time since 2011-12, but that means another 90 minutes of quality football in North London before booking their spot in the last eight. And while Stefano Pioli’s squad was in solid form heading into that first leg, they’re fresh off a disappointing result against a Fiorentina side who are far below them in the Serie A table.

Nicolas Gonzalez’s goal PK and a header from Luka Jovic put The Violets two goals to the good, with Theo Hernandez cutting the lead in half at the death in injury time. Milan couldn’t find an equalizer though and now sit in fifth place in the standings.

With Napoli running away with the Scudetto, the Champions League is the Rossoneri’s only realistic opportunity at hardware. However, Milan has recorded a mere one win in 21 visits to the UK against Premier League oppositions in European competitions.

To brighten up their chances though, The Red and Blacks have prevailed to the next round 18 of 21 times when winning the first leg in the UCL. Needless to say, there is a reason for optimism if you’re considering the Italian side in your Tottenham vs AC Milan prediction.

Tottenham vs AC Milan Lineups & Injuries

Tottenham Projected Lineup: Forster; Romero, Lenglet, Davies; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Son

Injuries & Absences: Sessegnon, Lloris, Dier, Bissouma, Bentacur

AC Milan Projected Lineup: Maignan; Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori; Saelemaekers, Krunic, Tonali, Hernandez; De Ketelaere, Giroud, Leao

Spurs are still dealing with a plethora of injuries and a suspension to Eric Dier. First-choice keeper Hugo Lloris is sidelined, along with Ryan Sessegnon, Yves Bissouma, and Rodrigo Bentacur.

Milan has dealt with no shortage of health issues throughout the campaign, but they’re at full strength here. Brahim Diaz is about the only possible absence as he’s a game-time decision with a knee sprain.

Tottenham vs AC Milan Prediction

Although Spurs tend to turn up at home and find results, I have a difficult time believing they’re going to come out here and run riot on Milan after a pair of crushing defeats. I’m liking the value of a draw in the Tottenham vs AC Milan odds, with the visitors advancing to the quarterfinals on aggregate.
