How to Watch USA vs Netherlands

Viewers can watch today’s USA vs Netherlands World Cup clash on FOX in the US at 9:00 pm EST.

USA Ease Past Vietnam

USA justified their current world champion and tournament-favorite status, with a comfortable 3-0 win in their opener against Vietnam. The four-time world champions made light work of overcoming opponents ranked 32 places beneath them in the FIFA world rankings, helped by two goals before halftime from Sophia Smith.

The points were secured for the USA in the 77th minute when Lindsey Horan finished clinically from just inside the penalty box. It was a win that maintained the USA’s incredible run of consecutive wins, which now stands at ten.

Stats Heavily Favor USA

The USA also has an outstanding current record in World Cup tournament soccer, winning 14 and drawing one of their last 15 games. The last time they were beaten was in the 2011 final when they lost in a penalty shootout to Japan.

While the Netherlands will likely offer a sterner test than Vietnam, all the stats favor the Stars and Stripes who have only ever lost one group-stage match at a World Cup finals tournament.

Good Start for the Dutch

Netherlands made hard work of beating Portugal but the important thing was to get their campaign off to a winning start. In the end, they were content to hang on to the one-goal lead given to them by Stephanie van der Gragt in the 13th minute, knowing a clean sheet was enough to get the job done.

This was a third consecutive victory for the Dutch, who won their two pre-tournament friendlies, but to continue that run of wins they will need to considerably up their levels if they wish to go toe-to-toe with the USA.

Tokyo Disappointment for Netherlands

Since losing 2-0 to them in the 2019 final, the Netherlands have played the USA twice; losing 2-0 in a friendly in November 2020 and then narrowly losing out via a penalty shootout in their quarterfinal at the Tokyo Olympics after drawing 2-2 aet.

With both teams knowing a win will guarantee them their place in the knockout phase, we can expect an attacking game but the big challenge for the Dutch will be to see if their defense can hold firm against a USA attack that is full of inventiveness and goals.

USA vs Netherlands Lineups and Injuries

With no new injury concerns, USA coach Vlatko Andonovski is expected to name an unchanged team, with Netherlands manager Andries Jonker also expected to stick with the bulk of the team that narrowly beat Portugal.

USA Projected Lineup: Naeher, Fox, Ertz, Girma, Dunn, Demelo, Sullivan, Horan, Rodman, Smith, Morgan.

Injuries & absences: None.

Netherlands Projected Lineup: Van Domselaar, Spitse, Van der Gragt, Janssen, Pelova, Roord, Groenen, Van de Donk, Brugts, Beerensteyn, Martens.

Injuries & absences: None

USA vs Netherlands Prediction

All of the stats point to a USA win but it’s worth noting that this Netherlands team will be unfazed by their illustrious opponents, who they have played regularly over the last few seasons. It’s also worth noting that in their eight qualification games, the Dutch scored 31 goals.

So, while it is hard to make a case for anything other than a USA win, there is every reason to believe there will be goals in this game and that the Dutch will get on the scoreboard. For me, the Over 2.5 goals in plus money offers great value alongside the prospect of both teams scoring.

USA vs Netherlands Pick: Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score (+175) at DraftKings.
