Andreescu Upsets Daria Kasatkina

The 22-year old is having herself quite a tournament this week. She’s bulldozed her way through her first three matches, having not dropped a set. This is the first time in her career that Andreescu has gone on to win back-to-back matches on grass at the tour level, she’s struggled on the court surface in the past.

In all three matches, it’s been Andreescu that’s dictated the pace. She’s held control since day one, and in her quarterfinal match, she defeated top seed Kasatkina 6-4, 6-1. She has not loss more than four games in a set all tournament.

This will be Andreescu’s first semifinal in over a year, and her first on grass. The Canadian will be looking to continue this hot streak, and get back to her playing ways in 2019. Her last title win came in 2019, when she won the US Open.

Halep Breezes Past Amanda Anisimova

It didn’t take long for Halep to book her spot in the semifinals. She went on to defeat American Anisimova 6-2, 6-1.

Throughout the match you could tell Anisimova was struggling with something. It was in the second set that the American took a medical timeout. But this didn’t take her out, and she decided to keep playing. But she really couldn’t find any sort of rhythm in the match, especially with her serve, and Halep was able to take full advantage.

Halep had her serve and strong forehand on lock, and was extremely consistent from start to finish.

She’ll now look onto Andreescu, who she has success against, but who is also having an impressive tournament this week as well.

Second Meeting Between Andreescu and Halep

Andreescu and Halep’s one and only meeting came back in 2019 during round 1 of the WTA Finals. After dropping the first set, Halep managed to comeback and win the match in three sets. With the win, Halep holds the head-to-head edge at 1-0.

Is Distance the Best Bet for Andresscu vs Halep?

This is sure to be an exciting match, there’s no doubt about that. With the way both players are playing, it could really go either way.

But it does looks like Halep has the slight edge here. Not only does she won their only previous encounter, overall she just has more success on grass. Andreescu has shown that her versatility her play, and natural power can win her matches, but she may meet the opponent that knows how to handle all that in Halep.

Regardless of the winner though, this match looks like it’ll go the distance.

Best Bet: Over 2.5 sets (+145)
