Norrie Upsets Alcaraz

The Brit entered his match with an 0-3 head-to-head record against Alcaraz. But he managed to earn his first win in a three-set battle, winning 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 6-4.

Norrie was the underdog heading into the match, but with his 25 winners, he managed to not only stay at par with Alcaraz, but defeat him. He also managed 30 unforced errors, which he’ll have to try and continue to minimize to keep his run alive.

Norrie has now continued to move up in the ATP Standings, now at No. 9, two steps higher than he was entering the tournament.

Coric’s Third ATP Masters 1000 Semifinal

This may be Coric’s best week of his season. After dealing with injury, the World No. 152 reached his first ATP Masters 1000 semifinal since 2019, and third in his career when he defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 6-4, in a relatively straightforward match.

Coric went on to win 31 or 32 points behind his first serve, and didn’t face a break point in the first hour and a half. His serve was his biggest assets of the match, and Auger-Aliassime was stunned everytime.

Coric will now look ahead to Norrie, which will be a tough opponent. But after defeating the like of Rafael Nadal, Roberto Bautista Agut and Auger-Aliassime, it doesn’t seem like any opponent

First Encounter in Three Years

These two have played each other twice before, splitting their head-to-head record at 1-1. But they haven’t gone head-to-head since 2019. Norrie won their first match on outdoor hard in 2018, in straight sets, and Coric won their most recent on outdoor clay in 2019, in straight sets.

Norrie vs Coric Prediction

As mentioned, Norrie will enter the match as the slight favorite, but Coric is right there. Given how both these players are playing, it seems like this match could go either way.

Coric’s going to have the upper hand on the serve, but Norrie covers more court than his opponent.

Regardless of the winner here, look for the match to go the distance.

Best Bet: Over 2.5 sets (+130)
