It’s a matchup of a new-ish top-40 player against one of the youngest players in the bracket, when Great Britain’s Arthur Fery takes on Australia’s Cruz Hewitt in Round 2 action at the ATP Winston-Salem.
Hewitt is just 17 years old and the son of Australian tennis great Lleyton Hewitt, making this a remarkably steep test of his emerging career. And the books agree, with the youngster set as a massive -600 underdog Tuesday.
As the heavy chalk, Fery brings superior tour-level polish to the hardcourt. The biggest question I have for this matchup is whether the teenage Hewitt can absorb the steep step-up in pace and spin.
Fery vss Hewitt goes this afternoon at 4pm ET from Stadium Court at at Wake Forest University Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with the Tennis Channel providing the broadcast coverage in the US, and TSN showing the matches in Canada.
Fery vs Hewitt Odds
Fery’s overall Elo rating is 1,811.1 compared with Hewitt’s 1,505.5, a 305.6-point gap; on hard courts, the difference is 250.4 points in Fery’s favor. That supports the favorite, while Hewitt’s recent win over Stefan Gorzny shows why the teenager cannot be dismissed outright.
Arthur Fery and Cruz Hewitt have no previous head-to-head meetings on the ATP tour. Without a historical baseline, bettors must lean into the raw statistical profiles. Fery’s established pedigree and elite point accumulation provide all the necessary data to find actionable value in the spread and total markets.

Fery vs Hewitt Expert Picks
- Moneyline Pick: Fery -4.5 Games (-150 at bet365)
Hewitt is still developing at No. 368 with 139 points after 25 events, but that ranking gap needs context: he is only 17, the youngest player in the bracket, and a highly regarded teenage prospect—not a player whose current ranking reflects a lack of promise.
The 52-week performance data reinforces the ranking and Elo gap. Fery owns a 1.397 dominance ratio to Hewitt’s 0.933, creates 0.67 break points per game versus 0.57, and wins 26.4% of return games compared with Hewitt’s 21.4%. He is also much cleaner behind his second serve, winning 54.9% of those points versus 50.4% for Hewitt, while committing only 0.14 double faults per game compared with 0.29.
Fery’s No. 31 spot in the ATP Race rankings further showcases his 2026 consistency. The matchup data points to repeated pressure on Hewitt’s serve and more opportunities for Fery to pull away, making -4.5 the preferred pick despite the juice. The main danger is Hewitt’s excellent 69.2% tiebreak-win rate, but that’s an unsustainable number in coin-flip situations.
- Game Total Pick: Under 20.5 Total Games (-125 at bet365)
I am keeping the under as a secondary play, but with less confidence than the spread. Fery’s 1.467 match-efficiency rating dwarfs Hewitt’s 1.072, and his 1.392 breakpoint-prevail ratio compares favorably with Hewitt’s 0.894. Those numbers support a match in which Fery controls the scoreboard and converts enough return pressure to win in straight sets.
A score such as 6-3, 6-4 would cash the under comfortably. However, this is not an automatic under: Hewitt has won 69.2% of his tiebreaks, compared with Fery’s 44.0%, and both players win roughly 70% of first-serve points. One tight set or a tiebreak could push the match over 20.5, but Fery’s superior dominance, return-game rate and hard-court Elo still make a short straight-sets result the likelier script.
