Muchova Defeats Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

The 26-year old has had an incredible week for herself in Paris. And in doing so, she has reached her first French Open semifinal.

She defeated 2021 runner-up Pavlyuchenkova 7-5, 6-2 on Tuesday, to book a spot in the final four.

After an injury ridden 2022, Muchova looks to be playing at a high level that she is proud of once again. She has had a decent year, with a few quarterfinal appearances, but this is definitely her best showing of 2023 so far.

Expect for Muchova to move herself back up in the Top 20 after this tournament.

Second Straight Grand Slam Semifinal

The 2023 Austrailain Open champ is still in the running to win her second Grand Slam of the year, as she earned a spot in the final four on Tuesday. The 25-year old put on a masterclass as she defeated Elina Svitolina 6-4, 6-4, ending Svitolina’s run.

All eyes were on Svitolina heading into this match. The 28-year old was writing an impressive comeback story, as she had taken a full year off as she had her first child. Heading into the French Open, she had won the Internationaux de Strasbourg, winning her first title in almost two years.

Aryna Sabalenka has yet to drop a set en route to a first semifinal in Paris, defeating Elina Svitolina 6-4, 6-4.

But this quarterfinal match, Sabalenka dominated. She went onto record 30 winners, while her opponent managed only seven.

Sabalenka has now made it to the semifinals in all four Grand Slams, and will be looking to appear in her first ever French Open final.

But now, she’ll go up against Muchova, who is also one of those players, that on paper, should give her a tough match.

Both players are extremely strong and can take advantage of their opponents mistakes. Consistency is going to be key in whoever wins this match. But regardless of the winner, look for this one to go the distance.
