Marta Kostyuk vs [17] Maria Sakkari Prediction
This has the makings for an exciting match. Sakkari, who has always been in the mix has struggled the past few tournaments, and at just 19-years old, Kostyuk is starting to make a name for herself in the tennis world.
These two have never played each other before, with their head-to-head standing at 0-0.
Earlier this year, both players had impressive showings at the French Open. Sakkari made it to the final four, and Kostyuk reached the fourth round. This was both players’ best Grand Slam showing.
Sakkari will look to utilize her variety of shots, including her serve and backhand. Kostyuk has a similar game and style to the Greek, and is just as aggressive. Kostyuk has the ability to upset Sakkari here, or at least take her the distance.
Best Bet: Kostyuk (+220) OR Over 2.5 sets (+190)
Su-Wei Hsieh vs Claire Liu Prediction
35-year old Hsieh will take on 21-year old Liu in the first round on Tuesday. The players are set to take the court for 4:15 pm EST.
The Taiwanese star has been widely known for her doubles success over the years, but has also claimed three singles titles. Liu is starting to come up the ranks as she’s played a lot of tennis this year, recording a 37-14 record.
This match will be a challenge for both players, but this might be a prime example of how experience can play into a match. Hsieh has years on the young American, and that could be the difference here tomorrow.
Best Bet: Hsieh (+110)
Viktorija Golubic vs [6] Bianca Andreescu Prediction
21-year old Andreescu is returning to the US Open for the first time since winning it all back in 2019. The Canadian has been given the sixth seed and will face Switzerland’s Golubic in the first round.
This will be the first career meeting between the two players.
Andreescu has had a tough go battling injuries, and less than ideal results in tournaments. She hasn’t had her best year in 2021, but does enter the US Open with an undefeated record.
Her opponent Golubic added some hardware this year when she went on to win silver with her doubles partner Belinda Bencic at the Olympics. Andreescu skipped out on The Games due to concern around the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bianca Andreescu in press ahead of the #USOpen, proudly declares "I'm healthy!" ahead of the tournament.
Says she's feeling good and confident, her toe problem from National Bank Open is no longer an issue.

Despite the success at the Olympics, the US Open is unfamiliar territory for the Swiss. Golubic has yet to record a win in a main draw match here in Flushing Meadows.
Taking a look at the moneyline, it was closer than I expected it to be. But Andreescu does still have a lot to prove even though she has found success here. I expect both players to be a little slow out the gate, but both will be aggressive and rely on their baseline game.
Regardless of the winner, this match looks like it could go the distance.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 sets (+175)
